Long Before the Headlines, There Was Louis

Long before this week’s headlines, there was Louis de Pointe du Lac, the weary vampire Brad Pitt brought to life in Interview with the Vampire. That’s where the conversation starts on Parallel Frequencies, and it’s a film the hosts know well.

Just Blane and Coco treat the 1994 film as a study in grief rather than gothic romance. They argue that Louis’s emotional flatness is the character, not a flaw in the performance, and they explore how immortality becomes a slow erosion of self. Coco brings out the emotional weight of Claudia’s stolen adulthood, while Blane frames the film’s place in the history of vampire cinema. Their back-and-forth shows how much the film still has to say.

If you’ve ever wondered why this film still resonates thirty years later, the episode is where the hosts dig in. Listen to the full conversation on Parallel Frequencies.
