Practically Magick Show Notes: Litha Magic & Summer Rest

The summer solstice arrives at the end of June, and with it comes the longest day of the year—and a critical invitation your body has been waiting for. Courtney explores why Litha matters to modern witches and healers, especially those rebuilding spiritual practice after religious deconstruction.

For six weeks from Imbolc through Beltane, our ancestors worked relentlessly: planting, tending, building. By summer solstice, that work should be done. Yet capitalism has rewired us to keep pushing. Courtney challenges this conditioning by naming what the wheel actually asks of us at Litha—rest, playfulness, and permission to slow down.

The episode opens with a card pull from the Seasons of the Witch Oracle deck: a reminder about what hides beneath the surface, especially hydration in Utah's drought. Later, the Cancer card appears—ruled by the moon, nurturing, calling us to care for ourselves the way a mother would.

Practical magic happens here: sun wheel crafts with yarn and intention, midday naps as spiritual practice, and honest talk about managing three kids while honoring seasonal cycles. Courtney shares her own struggle with overwork and offers real homework: pull something off your plate. Studies prove we're more productive with rest. Your body knows this. The wheel knows this. Summer is asking you to remember.

00:00:02.029 --> 00:00:07.870
Hello magical people. It is practically magic

00:00:07.870 --> 00:00:13.390
with your host Courtney Pearl. That's me. I am

00:00:13.390 --> 00:00:18.329
jumping on today just to give you a midsummer

00:00:18.329 --> 00:00:22.730
hello and a little help in navigating your summer

00:00:22.730 --> 00:00:28.269
solstice magic. Let's start our episode with

00:00:28.269 --> 00:00:31.289
pulling a card and I am going to use the Seasons

00:00:31.289 --> 00:00:37.890
of the Witch Oracle deck for Litha. A lot of

00:00:37.890 --> 00:00:40.810
witches and Divination Cardamansi practitioners

00:00:40.810 --> 00:00:45.270
use these series of decks because it's really

00:00:45.270 --> 00:00:50.530
fun to change them out as the wheel turns, the

00:00:50.530 --> 00:00:53.280
wheel of the year. They have these beautiful

00:00:53.280 --> 00:00:58.659
gold and purple and blue depending on the holiday

00:00:58.659 --> 00:01:02.380
or festival. They have this really cool foil

00:01:02.380 --> 00:01:04.920
on the side. So we're going to pull a card for

00:01:04.920 --> 00:01:09.120
Litha which is coming up very very soon. At the

00:01:09.120 --> 00:01:13.840
end of June we have a turning of the wheel and

00:01:13.840 --> 00:01:16.579
the longest day of the year which we're going

00:01:16.579 --> 00:01:18.659
to talk about in today's episode, why that is

00:01:18.659 --> 00:01:22.719
important, why that matters. Is this calling

00:01:22.719 --> 00:01:27.879
me out? You guys, how many of you need to be

00:01:27.879 --> 00:01:35.239
reminded of hydration? In a drought in Utah.

00:01:36.239 --> 00:01:38.819
Yeah, we're in a drought. It's a whole thing.

00:01:39.450 --> 00:01:42.090
It's all over the news. But let me read to you

00:01:42.090 --> 00:01:44.489
what it says. There is more to the story that

00:01:44.489 --> 00:01:47.189
meets the eye. Be mindful of what hides beneath

00:01:47.189 --> 00:01:50.049
the surface. Is that not the truth? Especially

00:01:50.049 --> 00:01:51.890
when it comes to hydration. I mean you don't

00:01:51.890 --> 00:01:53.890
even know you're dehydrated until you're having

00:01:53.890 --> 00:01:59.170
heat stroke and multiple health issues and you

00:01:59.170 --> 00:02:02.090
start wondering why you're so fatigued and why

00:02:02.090 --> 00:02:05.670
you feel nauseous and why you feel crappy, you

00:02:05.670 --> 00:02:07.049
know different things that can happen in the

00:02:07.049 --> 00:02:10.360
heat. For me personally, hydration is a really,

00:02:10.360 --> 00:02:13.860
really personal thing that I need to work on.

00:02:14.759 --> 00:02:17.120
Constantly, constantly tracking my water and

00:02:17.120 --> 00:02:18.819
trying to figure out if I'm getting enough and

00:02:18.819 --> 00:02:21.780
it never really is, actually never really is

00:02:21.780 --> 00:02:26.900
enough. Well friends, it is summer. Not officially,

00:02:27.180 --> 00:02:29.580
I mean obviously the summer solstice begins the

00:02:29.580 --> 00:02:32.560
summer but in the Celtic calendar they consider

00:02:32.560 --> 00:02:35.479
Beltane to be the start of summer because it

00:02:35.479 --> 00:02:40.240
is coming into the light half of the year and...

00:02:40.240 --> 00:02:46.620
Excuse me. And it is when, you know, the last

00:02:46.620 --> 00:02:53.620
of the planting is done. So I work a lot with

00:02:53.620 --> 00:03:00.620
the healing cycles of the year and Litha or summer

00:03:00.620 --> 00:03:04.259
solstice is a really important one because people

00:03:04.259 --> 00:03:09.469
often ignore it. Quite honestly, and it is hard.

00:03:09.469 --> 00:03:12.930
I'm gonna be honest I've got three boys as most

00:03:12.930 --> 00:03:15.370
of you know who listened last season that we

00:03:15.370 --> 00:03:19.069
did a rising moon minerals Shout out to my co

00:03:19.069 --> 00:03:22.150
-host Jamie if you were watching last season.

00:03:22.189 --> 00:03:26.030
We had the best time recording every week in

00:03:26.030 --> 00:03:28.370
rising moon minerals cute little crystal shop

00:03:28.370 --> 00:03:31.530
talking about crystals every episode and Don't

00:03:31.530 --> 00:03:34.150
worry if you're wondering. Where's Jamie what's

00:03:34.150 --> 00:03:38.689
going on? She's still around. We are definitely

00:03:38.689 --> 00:03:42.430
going to be involved in this season. And you

00:03:42.430 --> 00:03:44.650
are going to see her again. Don't you worry.

00:03:45.669 --> 00:03:47.949
We love them over there at Rising Moon Minerals.

00:03:48.289 --> 00:03:53.090
And I've got a lot of things cooking on the back

00:03:53.090 --> 00:03:55.909
end of what's going to come out in Practically

00:03:55.909 --> 00:04:00.069
Magic for this season. But back to summer. You

00:04:00.069 --> 00:04:03.909
guys know I got three boys. They're all school

00:04:03.909 --> 00:04:08.759
-age kids. And even as I sit here recording this,

00:04:08.900 --> 00:04:10.919
I'm just hoping that they're not tearing the

00:04:10.919 --> 00:04:13.340
house apart while I said, mommy's gotta go record

00:04:13.340 --> 00:04:16.740
for a couple minutes. You guys, you know, you'll

00:04:16.740 --> 00:04:19.220
be good, you'll be fine. Hopefully, you know,

00:04:19.420 --> 00:04:23.740
you're all right. And it's tough because you

00:04:23.740 --> 00:04:25.519
think that as kids get older, they're going to

00:04:25.519 --> 00:04:28.939
need, um... less vigilance, less supervision.

00:04:29.100 --> 00:04:30.500
They're gonna be a little bit more independent

00:04:30.500 --> 00:04:33.920
and you can kind of handle your business, handle

00:04:33.920 --> 00:04:36.579
things you need to do. And that's not always

00:04:36.579 --> 00:04:39.560
the case, at least with my kids. They require

00:04:39.560 --> 00:04:42.620
quite a bit of constant vigilance and get into

00:04:42.620 --> 00:04:46.720
trouble quite a lot. In fact, just today, I took

00:04:46.720 --> 00:04:50.220
my eyes off of them for a minute to get some...

00:04:50.329 --> 00:04:54.269
work done on prism healing working on rebranding

00:04:54.269 --> 00:04:57.490
and relaunching a lot of cool stuff for my business

00:04:57.490 --> 00:05:01.629
prism healing and while my back was turned they

00:05:01.629 --> 00:05:04.350
got into the honey another sticky honey all over

00:05:04.350 --> 00:05:08.050
my kitchen could be worse could be worse yeah

00:05:08.050 --> 00:05:11.029
put me back into reality it could be worse so

00:05:11.029 --> 00:05:14.709
for all of you who are trying to remain magical

00:05:14.990 --> 00:05:19.230
Remain calm, work on yourself, work on what you

00:05:19.230 --> 00:05:22.509
need to do and it is summer and you've got kids

00:05:22.509 --> 00:05:27.149
and you are their primary caregiver as well and

00:05:27.149 --> 00:05:32.449
all of the things that you're juggling. Just

00:05:32.449 --> 00:05:38.509
that. And that there is nothing better to invite

00:05:38.509 --> 00:05:42.769
self -reflection and healing than a hard, hard

00:05:42.769 --> 00:05:46.509
time. So if you're going through a hard time

00:05:46.509 --> 00:05:50.870
or adjustments, that is another invitation to

00:05:50.870 --> 00:05:52.670
your own self -awareness and your own healing.

00:05:53.730 --> 00:05:57.689
I am going to be going back through the archives

00:05:57.689 --> 00:06:00.649
and revisiting some of the old episodes and we're

00:06:00.649 --> 00:06:06.250
going to go back and touch on or reintroduce

00:06:06.250 --> 00:06:11.430
the topics that started Prism Healing and practically

00:06:11.430 --> 00:06:15.660
magic the podcast. So you might remember when

00:06:15.660 --> 00:06:18.360
the first seasons came out, if you've been watching

00:06:18.360 --> 00:06:21.139
and listening, you know, there's a lot of really

00:06:21.139 --> 00:06:24.180
great topics, but maybe they were a little bit,

00:06:24.180 --> 00:06:27.300
you know, less interesting and engaging to listen

00:06:27.300 --> 00:06:29.339
through them. And so we're gonna revisit some

00:06:29.339 --> 00:06:31.800
of those and have a really good time and have

00:06:31.800 --> 00:06:36.399
some more discussions. So let's talk about Litha.

00:06:36.699 --> 00:06:40.230
So if you're... little bit new to the pagan wheel

00:06:40.230 --> 00:06:43.889
of the year calendar and how to how to celebrate

00:06:43.889 --> 00:06:47.670
those things for a lot of people who are deconstructing

00:06:47.670 --> 00:06:51.730
religion or deconstructing what they had when

00:06:51.730 --> 00:06:56.250
they could grasp the community the certainty

00:06:56.250 --> 00:06:59.230
the instruction that came with being part of

00:06:59.230 --> 00:07:05.129
a religion and maybe wanting to Grasp something

00:07:05.600 --> 00:07:07.779
I think the Wheel of the Year is a great place

00:07:07.779 --> 00:07:10.759
to start. I mean it's very open -ended. It's

00:07:10.759 --> 00:07:13.339
still very fluid. There's a lot of history behind

00:07:13.339 --> 00:07:17.259
it, so it really helps you if you are from a

00:07:17.259 --> 00:07:21.939
Celtic or Nordic region of have that ancestry.

00:07:22.399 --> 00:07:28.439
It really does help to feel connected in a way

00:07:28.439 --> 00:07:33.379
that can be those things that can connect you

00:07:33.379 --> 00:07:36.540
to your ancestral practices, indigenous practices.

00:07:37.360 --> 00:07:39.120
You know a lot of times we say that like people

00:07:39.120 --> 00:07:41.079
don't have a culture so they borrow it from other

00:07:41.079 --> 00:07:45.180
people, they appropriate and the truth is if

00:07:45.180 --> 00:07:47.939
you are from a northern European ancestry there

00:07:47.939 --> 00:07:50.420
is a lot of culture that was lost to you as well

00:07:50.420 --> 00:07:53.399
and your ancestors when colonization took over

00:07:53.399 --> 00:07:56.680
that part of the world and so reconnecting with

00:07:56.680 --> 00:08:01.000
it, reawakening it, rediscovering it, and remembering

00:08:01.000 --> 00:08:04.480
it can be such a powerful experience. So I do

00:08:04.480 --> 00:08:07.060
that through the Wheel of the Year and when the

00:08:07.060 --> 00:08:10.779
wheel turns at the solstices, the equinoxes,

00:08:11.000 --> 00:08:14.759
and the Celtic fire festivals, that puts you

00:08:14.759 --> 00:08:18.339
at a celebration every six weeks. Something new

00:08:18.339 --> 00:08:21.279
to learn about, something new to celebrate. Well,

00:08:21.279 --> 00:08:26.079
my family do. Sometimes we have done. Is we'll

00:08:26.079 --> 00:08:29.100
make those Sun wheels. We tried last year to

00:08:29.100 --> 00:08:33.159
make them with branches and yarn and Didn't really

00:08:33.159 --> 00:08:35.720
what we were doing. I'm artistic and I teach

00:08:35.720 --> 00:08:38.500
art classes, but crafting is not really my thing

00:08:38.500 --> 00:08:41.240
So trying to figure out how to navigate the weaving

00:08:41.240 --> 00:08:46.840
was It was an experiment and that's okay I never

00:08:46.840 --> 00:08:48.940
ever claim that you have to do it correctly or

00:08:48.940 --> 00:08:51.379
that there is or that you're gonna make something

00:08:51.379 --> 00:08:53.879
That is so beautiful. You could sell it on Etsy

00:08:53.879 --> 00:08:58.320
You know may not be, but the participation in

00:08:58.320 --> 00:09:01.120
it is really fun. So there's a lot of celebration

00:09:01.120 --> 00:09:03.779
happening around a summer solstice that has to

00:09:03.779 --> 00:09:07.899
do with the sun, the wheel, the circles, and

00:09:07.899 --> 00:09:09.899
so we would get branches and we could weave them

00:09:09.899 --> 00:09:13.419
together and made them into a circle, tied them

00:09:13.419 --> 00:09:16.809
at the end, so you start with a circle. You could

00:09:16.809 --> 00:09:19.710
also start with just one branch or you would

00:09:19.710 --> 00:09:22.509
do with a dream catcher, you know, something

00:09:22.509 --> 00:09:24.970
that starts you out with a circle. And then I

00:09:24.970 --> 00:09:27.970
think we just wrapped it around so that there

00:09:27.970 --> 00:09:32.509
were crisscrosses, Xs, Ts, you know, as many

00:09:32.509 --> 00:09:35.590
times as we could so there was lots of yarn all

00:09:35.590 --> 00:09:37.649
connecting from the outsides of the circle into

00:09:37.649 --> 00:09:40.750
the center. and then we just took colors and

00:09:40.750 --> 00:09:42.629
we tied them to the center and we started weaving

00:09:42.629 --> 00:09:45.009
in and out and then the opposite all the way

00:09:45.009 --> 00:09:47.590
around so that each time we went around the circle

00:09:47.590 --> 00:09:51.070
if we went over the first time on one of those

00:09:51.070 --> 00:09:53.929
strings then we went under on the next one and

00:09:53.929 --> 00:09:57.190
so that they kind of uh weaved into a pattern

00:09:57.190 --> 00:10:02.120
and you know then we had this cool little sun

00:10:02.120 --> 00:10:04.940
wheel, this thing that we created that was all

00:10:04.940 --> 00:10:08.059
these colors and they spiraled out into the edges.

00:10:09.059 --> 00:10:11.460
Didn't look particularly great, my first one,

00:10:11.659 --> 00:10:14.720
you know, but maybe this year I'll be posting

00:10:14.720 --> 00:10:19.679
on my Instagram and my TikTok some better looking

00:10:19.679 --> 00:10:23.539
ones from what we made last year. The point is

00:10:23.539 --> 00:10:28.179
to participate in the activity, to... weave your

00:10:28.179 --> 00:10:33.200
intentions into it and make it in a magical experience

00:10:33.200 --> 00:10:36.799
or a spell in how you're making the thing. And

00:10:36.799 --> 00:10:38.460
by the way, if you don't want to work with yarn

00:10:38.460 --> 00:10:43.039
and you just want to work with pens, crayons,

00:10:43.440 --> 00:10:45.840
paper, whatever it is that you need to work with,

00:10:46.100 --> 00:10:49.080
and just think, how can I incorporate circles

00:10:49.080 --> 00:10:52.789
and circle shapes into my art or my Doodling

00:10:52.789 --> 00:10:57.830
or my creativity making spirals making Sun shapes

00:10:57.830 --> 00:11:02.870
just to honor the Sun and the length of a full

00:11:02.870 --> 00:11:09.570
day now It is the longest day of the year a lot

00:11:09.570 --> 00:11:15.850
of a lot of pagans a lot of people Magical energetic

00:11:15.850 --> 00:11:18.389
people associate the Sun and the symbols of the

00:11:18.389 --> 00:11:21.899
Sun to the masculine And I particularly do, although

00:11:21.899 --> 00:11:24.879
there's a lot of folklore from Native Indigenous

00:11:24.879 --> 00:11:28.360
people here in Northern America or Turtle Island

00:11:28.360 --> 00:11:32.620
that would have stories about the son being a

00:11:32.620 --> 00:11:36.279
grandmother or a mother or being a woman or feminine.

00:11:37.240 --> 00:11:40.759
And I think that's particularly wonderful too.

00:11:40.820 --> 00:11:43.879
I think that, you know, it's all about our own

00:11:43.879 --> 00:11:46.519
associations with it. But a lot of times it's

00:11:46.519 --> 00:11:49.679
associated with a masculine because the masculine

00:11:49.679 --> 00:11:53.940
energy coming from the solar plexus chakra, that

00:11:53.940 --> 00:11:57.940
is the yellow bright flame, it has to do with

00:11:57.940 --> 00:12:00.720
self -confidence, self -esteem, productivity,

00:12:02.159 --> 00:12:05.519
efficiency, you know, getting things done. So

00:12:05.519 --> 00:12:11.019
we do associate the sun with action and the time

00:12:11.019 --> 00:12:14.809
of day when you get the most done. at least until

00:12:14.809 --> 00:12:17.049
electricity was invented and you could have the

00:12:17.049 --> 00:12:19.409
lights on all night and work all night, which

00:12:19.409 --> 00:12:25.389
I don't recommend. But our natural rhythms and

00:12:25.389 --> 00:12:30.929
cycles are rest during the darkness, winter time,

00:12:31.629 --> 00:12:35.210
night time, and be productive and doing things

00:12:35.210 --> 00:12:39.389
during the day. However, in the middle of summer

00:12:39.389 --> 00:12:45.470
when the Sun is out the longest. It's very easy

00:12:45.470 --> 00:12:51.009
to get overworked, to be burning out. And the

00:12:51.009 --> 00:12:55.590
thing is, from Imbulk on February 1st, when you

00:12:55.590 --> 00:13:01.350
start the planting seasons, and you have Imbulk

00:13:01.350 --> 00:13:04.529
and Ostara, the spring equinox, and then you

00:13:04.529 --> 00:13:08.190
have Beltane, those are the three major planting

00:13:08.190 --> 00:13:11.539
seasons or cycles. in the year, at least for

00:13:11.539 --> 00:13:15.340
the northern hemisphere of the earth. So planting

00:13:15.340 --> 00:13:18.779
and working, we're planting seeds, we're tilling

00:13:18.779 --> 00:13:21.559
up the garden, we are tending to the animals,

00:13:21.659 --> 00:13:24.279
we are helping them give birth. Now, this is

00:13:24.279 --> 00:13:26.600
our ancestors, right? Not all of us are in the

00:13:26.600 --> 00:13:28.580
farming community, but if you do have a farm,

00:13:28.679 --> 00:13:30.460
you know what I'm talking about. You still live

00:13:30.460 --> 00:13:35.919
and work in these cycles, right? Come here, Mookie.

00:13:37.100 --> 00:13:41.419
I have my... aunt's dog visiting us and He's

00:13:41.419 --> 00:13:43.240
in the room with me right now. So we'll see if

00:13:43.240 --> 00:13:46.039
he lets himself be seen on camera sitting next

00:13:46.039 --> 00:13:50.120
to me Okay, if you want to come sit by me Nah,

00:13:50.379 --> 00:13:53.220
he might not. Oh, well So we've been working

00:13:53.220 --> 00:13:57.399
hard is what I'm saying. We've been working working

00:13:57.399 --> 00:14:01.539
working hard we're planting seeds and we're hoping

00:14:01.539 --> 00:14:04.960
that all those seeds become abundant and fertile

00:14:04.960 --> 00:14:10.750
and You know produce what we need to survive

00:14:10.750 --> 00:14:13.090
because our ancestors really needed that to survive.

00:14:13.470 --> 00:14:15.029
They really, you know, they didn't have grocery

00:14:15.029 --> 00:14:17.929
stores to just pop over to and grab food. They

00:14:17.929 --> 00:14:20.230
depended on their crops doing well and their

00:14:20.230 --> 00:14:26.809
livestock doing well and surviving. So our natural

00:14:26.809 --> 00:14:29.970
rhythms are still very cohesive with that. It's

00:14:29.970 --> 00:14:35.860
very much about getting a lot built up. of our

00:14:35.860 --> 00:14:39.299
business or our work or our money, putting it

00:14:39.299 --> 00:14:45.220
all into from thought into action. But then we

00:14:45.220 --> 00:14:48.039
get to the winter, the summer solstice, we get

00:14:48.039 --> 00:14:49.980
to summer solstice and we're pretty burned out

00:14:49.980 --> 00:14:53.019
and we and we've run out of things to do. I mean,

00:14:53.220 --> 00:14:56.700
if you were likening it to actual planting and

00:14:56.700 --> 00:14:59.879
crops by this time, they should be growing and

00:14:59.879 --> 00:15:03.429
they should be just needing to be watered. intended

00:15:03.429 --> 00:15:05.850
to and we did and you know just kind of kept

00:15:05.850 --> 00:15:09.169
going but really there's not a lot to do and

00:15:09.169 --> 00:15:12.250
we are meant to have a little period of rest

00:15:12.250 --> 00:15:15.190
not quite the rest we have in winter but very

00:15:15.190 --> 00:15:21.629
much so a period of playfulness of joy of gathering

00:15:21.629 --> 00:15:25.970
with our friends and so it should be time to

00:15:25.970 --> 00:15:29.950
kind of lay back and relax this is when people

00:15:29.950 --> 00:15:33.940
plan their family vacations, which by the way,

00:15:33.940 --> 00:15:36.159
if you're planning vacations with little kids,

00:15:36.279 --> 00:15:38.759
that's not necessarily a rest and I get you.

00:15:39.299 --> 00:15:41.379
But you do your best, right? You do what you

00:15:41.379 --> 00:15:43.700
can to spend quality time with your family and

00:15:43.700 --> 00:15:47.940
really make it a lot of fun for everybody. This

00:15:47.940 --> 00:15:51.340
is the time when you kind of plan your things

00:15:51.340 --> 00:15:53.879
in the morning when it's cool, you wake up early,

00:15:53.879 --> 00:15:56.940
you get a little bit done, and then maybe by

00:15:56.940 --> 00:16:00.549
mid -afternoon you're... hoping for a little

00:16:00.549 --> 00:16:03.970
nap. Now if you're listening to this and going,

00:16:04.450 --> 00:16:07.049
what are you talking about Courtney? There is

00:16:07.049 --> 00:16:12.549
no way I get a nap. I am way too busy. But here's

00:16:12.549 --> 00:16:15.029
the problem. Your body is gonna feel like it

00:16:15.029 --> 00:16:17.529
needs to keep working as long as the sun is up.

00:16:17.590 --> 00:16:20.049
And so it's going to work work work from sun

00:16:20.049 --> 00:16:24.350
up to sun down. It's going to find more and more

00:16:24.350 --> 00:16:27.330
things thinking that that's what it needs to

00:16:27.330 --> 00:16:30.559
do. At least that's the way our programs, our

00:16:30.559 --> 00:16:34.159
brains are programmed, right? All right, so we've

00:16:34.159 --> 00:16:36.659
been kind of going over the Wheel of the Year

00:16:36.659 --> 00:16:40.399
about how there's a lot of work to be done and

00:16:40.399 --> 00:16:45.159
our brains are kind of programmed to work extremely

00:16:45.159 --> 00:16:49.019
hard. When the sun is up, when it's daylight,

00:16:49.519 --> 00:16:52.240
we... I mean this is part of like the conditioning

00:16:52.240 --> 00:16:55.600
that capitalism has given us is productivity,

00:16:55.779 --> 00:16:57.980
efficiency, more, more, more, more. You can be

00:16:57.980 --> 00:17:01.879
getting things done, you should be, right? But

00:17:01.879 --> 00:17:07.859
our bodies are actually connected to a ancestral

00:17:07.859 --> 00:17:12.519
pull to be nurtured at this time. That this is

00:17:12.519 --> 00:17:16.960
a time to rest, to take breaks, to take those

00:17:16.960 --> 00:17:20.420
mid -day naps. Some cultures around the world

00:17:20.420 --> 00:17:24.000
still hold that very high on the priority list

00:17:24.000 --> 00:17:28.339
on long dog days of summer. They have a siesta

00:17:28.339 --> 00:17:33.279
time or a time that is actually like, stop working,

00:17:34.140 --> 00:17:37.019
go have a couple of hours break. Maybe you go

00:17:37.019 --> 00:17:39.819
meet a friend for coffee. I've actually heard

00:17:39.819 --> 00:17:41.799
about this somewhere in Europe, that this is

00:17:41.799 --> 00:17:47.319
a very normal, very cultural practice to do this

00:17:47.319 --> 00:17:51.079
and I am extremely jealous because in America

00:17:51.079 --> 00:17:54.400
we just have adopted something more that looks

00:17:54.400 --> 00:17:56.880
a lot more like the push towards a masculine

00:17:56.880 --> 00:17:59.180
energy of work work work work and get it done.

00:17:59.839 --> 00:18:01.680
Now masculine energy is not a bad energy that's

00:18:01.680 --> 00:18:04.900
why we get stuff done but to balance it with

00:18:04.900 --> 00:18:08.119
a feminine energy is really important. So I'm

00:18:08.119 --> 00:18:13.000
going to challenge you as like your Litha homework

00:18:13.000 --> 00:18:17.700
at this time. I want you to figure out a way

00:18:17.700 --> 00:18:22.559
to pull back from working so hard at least during

00:18:22.559 --> 00:18:26.339
certain times of the day. Perhaps you can work

00:18:26.339 --> 00:18:30.640
it into your schedule. Perhaps you can give yourself

00:18:30.640 --> 00:18:33.440
a little bit more of a I'm going to push some

00:18:33.440 --> 00:18:37.140
goals and deadlines back a few months so that

00:18:37.140 --> 00:18:45.069
my summer July time Maybe July and August if

00:18:45.069 --> 00:18:48.309
you'd like is just a little bit more relaxed

00:18:48.309 --> 00:18:51.829
a little bit less Pull some things off your plate.

00:18:51.950 --> 00:18:54.950
Maybe tell some people. Nope. I'm sorry. I can't

00:18:54.950 --> 00:18:57.589
do that project right now Because this is when

00:18:57.589 --> 00:19:00.349
I'm honoring the cycles that my body needs to

00:19:00.349 --> 00:19:04.490
be in rest and I know that we have conditioned

00:19:04.490 --> 00:19:08.650
our Society to believe that we will not be as

00:19:08.650 --> 00:19:11.829
productive if we are not getting these done at

00:19:11.829 --> 00:19:16.609
all times The truth is we are actually and studies

00:19:16.609 --> 00:19:19.750
have proven this all the time studies are proving

00:19:19.750 --> 00:19:23.509
this people are more productive and get more

00:19:23.509 --> 00:19:27.269
done when they have these breaks and rests and

00:19:27.269 --> 00:19:30.529
they're able to have some stillness and peace

00:19:30.529 --> 00:19:35.279
during times of the day. I was actually at my

00:19:35.279 --> 00:19:38.900
twin boys first soccer game last night and we

00:19:38.900 --> 00:19:40.839
have never done sports e -sports in our family

00:19:40.839 --> 00:19:43.740
very much so this is all very new to us a lot

00:19:43.740 --> 00:19:46.599
about soccer people and how that works but this

00:19:46.599 --> 00:19:50.299
is just a fun community soccer thing where they

00:19:50.299 --> 00:19:53.259
have no practices they just practice a few minutes

00:19:53.259 --> 00:19:56.599
before their game every week couple times a week

00:19:57.400 --> 00:20:00.960
We brought our camp chairs and we sat them out

00:20:00.960 --> 00:20:07.119
on the lawn in the shade of a nice big tree and

00:20:07.119 --> 00:20:10.480
just got ready to kind of chill out and watch

00:20:10.480 --> 00:20:13.160
the boys play soccer, watch them do their little

00:20:13.160 --> 00:20:15.599
thing. I don't really know what they're doing

00:20:15.599 --> 00:20:17.980
yet, but they're so cute just running around

00:20:17.980 --> 00:20:21.660
kicking the ball and doing their little thing.

00:20:22.599 --> 00:20:25.099
But as we sat there, my husband and I, side by

00:20:25.099 --> 00:20:30.720
side in silence. and peace, and just the sound

00:20:30.720 --> 00:20:33.299
of the distant soccer game going on where we

00:20:33.299 --> 00:20:37.319
could see it. It wasn't very loud. And my older

00:20:37.319 --> 00:20:39.759
son was sitting next to us in a camp chair as

00:20:39.759 --> 00:20:42.980
well, and he is not used to this kind of thing.

00:20:43.359 --> 00:20:46.160
He is usually going, going, going. He's usually

00:20:46.160 --> 00:20:48.779
got an activity of some kind. He's usually got

00:20:48.779 --> 00:20:51.680
friends to play with. He's always got something

00:20:51.680 --> 00:20:55.859
entertaining him almost constantly. Not my choice,

00:20:55.920 --> 00:20:59.930
but... It's his reality. So he was sitting next

00:20:59.930 --> 00:21:03.410
to us and he says, how can you guys just sit

00:21:03.410 --> 00:21:08.609
here? This is so boring. I looked at him and

00:21:08.609 --> 00:21:14.089
I said, you're right. It is. Man, do I feel lucky

00:21:14.089 --> 00:21:17.230
to be here right now. Just getting to be bored

00:21:17.230 --> 00:21:23.210
for once. My mind can just sit and think thoughts

00:21:23.210 --> 00:21:28.240
and Figure things out and be infinitely entertained

00:21:28.240 --> 00:21:32.940
by all the ideas that are possible in my own

00:21:32.940 --> 00:21:36.940
brain And I never get that normally on a daily

00:21:36.940 --> 00:21:40.640
basis I always have something either a phone

00:21:40.640 --> 00:21:44.339
in my face or a to -do list to get to or a list

00:21:44.339 --> 00:21:47.200
of chores or three human beings that depend on

00:21:47.200 --> 00:21:50.779
me and I have to Take care of and in this moment

00:21:50.779 --> 00:21:56.710
right now just right now I get to sit here and

00:21:56.710 --> 00:22:04.089
be bored. So awesome. And I just loved it. I

00:22:04.089 --> 00:22:08.369
just loved that moment. So that is what Litha

00:22:08.369 --> 00:22:11.490
represents to me and I'm gonna pull out another

00:22:11.490 --> 00:22:14.930
card from the deck that I pulled out purposely

00:22:14.930 --> 00:22:18.109
from the Litha deck which is the Cancer card.

00:22:18.670 --> 00:22:21.440
My twins are cancer so I have that Tattooed on

00:22:21.440 --> 00:22:23.720
my arm from the tattoo episode. You guys might

00:22:23.720 --> 00:22:27.420
remember I have the cancer symbol there the crab

00:22:27.420 --> 00:22:34.519
and Cancers are ruled by the moon Right, so we're

00:22:34.519 --> 00:22:37.140
going into cancer season. We're going into the

00:22:37.140 --> 00:22:40.299
cancer time of the year ruled by the moon and

00:22:40.299 --> 00:22:45.420
very much motherly nurturing caring for others

00:22:45.420 --> 00:22:49.140
and I'm gonna challenge you to care for yourself

00:22:49.140 --> 00:22:53.299
in the way a mother figure would notice that

00:22:53.299 --> 00:22:57.680
instead of the sun and the bright yellow summer

00:22:57.680 --> 00:23:02.759
feeling that you get typically this card is a

00:23:02.759 --> 00:23:10.579
night sky darkness stars this woman is resting

00:23:10.579 --> 00:23:16.359
on the moon with her white hair held up by stars

00:23:16.359 --> 00:23:21.400
there's like a moon moth butterfly Sitting there.

00:23:22.579 --> 00:23:27.380
Very much a call to nurturing right now. So if

00:23:27.380 --> 00:23:31.460
you have felt overworked, burned out, too much

00:23:31.460 --> 00:23:34.819
being asked of you, this is a good time to revisit

00:23:34.819 --> 00:23:37.980
that. And the next wheel of the year turn is

00:23:37.980 --> 00:23:43.200
going to be August 1st. So we get to celebrate

00:23:43.200 --> 00:23:47.279
La Mas or Lunessa depending on how you pronounce

00:23:47.279 --> 00:23:49.859
that. Each person kind of has their own way of

00:23:49.859 --> 00:23:52.740
pronouncing it, but another Celtic fire festival

00:23:52.740 --> 00:23:55.759
that is in between the solstices and the equinoxes.

00:23:56.220 --> 00:24:00.519
So it's not fall yet, but it is kind of the late

00:24:00.519 --> 00:24:04.269
summer vibes that we have. the first of August.

00:24:04.890 --> 00:24:08.630
So for this next six week turn of the wheel of

00:24:08.630 --> 00:24:11.690
the year, we get to be a little self -aware about

00:24:11.690 --> 00:24:14.130
how overworked and overtired and overstressed

00:24:14.130 --> 00:24:18.490
we are and how much we need to clear some things

00:24:18.490 --> 00:24:21.390
off of our schedule and our plate to make room

00:24:21.390 --> 00:24:24.910
for what feels like a good time to break and

00:24:24.910 --> 00:24:28.289
rest. Maybe you have a vacation planned. Maybe

00:24:28.289 --> 00:24:34.660
not. I am going to devote some time to sleeping.

00:24:35.700 --> 00:24:37.220
Something that I haven't been getting a lot of

00:24:37.220 --> 00:24:40.980
lately. And if I can choose to do with what I

00:24:40.980 --> 00:24:43.299
want to celebrate Litha with, it's going to be

00:24:43.299 --> 00:24:47.160
some sleeping time. Sleeping in or taking naps.

00:24:47.599 --> 00:24:51.140
Whatever my body seems to need to do. Maybe laying

00:24:51.140 --> 00:24:55.680
out on the lawn chair on the beach or next to

00:24:55.680 --> 00:24:57.940
the pool. Or you can take a little nap there.

00:24:58.180 --> 00:25:02.220
If it's safe to do so. Alright? Make sure you're

00:25:02.220 --> 00:25:04.759
watching those kiddos. Sorry. That's my mom brain.

00:25:04.799 --> 00:25:09.019
I just have to say it so Thank you so much for

00:25:09.019 --> 00:25:12.759

00:25:13.539 --> 00:25:17.700
I want to Give a shout out to some of my favorite

00:25:26.740 --> 00:25:29.460

00:25:29.460 --> 00:25:31.960

00:25:31.960 --> 00:25:36.019
of the episode or if you'd like a little segment

00:25:36.019 --> 00:25:40.140
played out in each episode we have different

00:25:40.140 --> 00:25:42.759

00:25:42.759 --> 00:25:45.619
support our show and support the content so that

00:25:45.619 --> 00:25:48.740

00:25:57.720 --> 00:26:00.819

amazing places, note that these are my friends

00:26:29.690 --> 00:26:32.250
and maybe one of them would like to be a sponsor

00:26:32.250 --> 00:26:35.390
at some point. I'm going to give a shout out

00:26:35.390 --> 00:26:37.170
to Rising Moon Minerals of course. That's where

00:26:37.170 --> 00:26:40.170
we get our crystals. That's where I direct every

00:26:40.170 --> 00:26:42.170
client of mine when they do a healing session

00:26:42.170 --> 00:26:44.829
with me. Go find a crystal at risingmoonminerals

00:26:44.829 --> 00:26:49.230
.com online or you can go to the shop, a new

00:26:49.230 --> 00:26:53.819
shop potentially coming soon. I'm teasing this

00:26:53.819 --> 00:26:57.400
out, just shh. You'll have to watch and see what

00:26:57.400 --> 00:27:01.720
happens. So the conjuring tree, I was lucky enough

00:27:01.720 --> 00:27:04.660
to do their psychic fair, so if you are in Utah,

00:27:04.859 --> 00:27:08.180
Salt Lake area, and you need a... awesome witchy

00:27:08.180 --> 00:27:11.160
shop to get your tools for magical practice.

00:27:11.480 --> 00:27:13.839
They have awesome little witchy camps going on

00:27:13.839 --> 00:27:15.980
for the kids all summer. My kids love it. We

00:27:15.980 --> 00:27:19.660
go to witchy camp on Monday nights and I am going

00:27:19.660 --> 00:27:21.720
to be doing their psychic fair in July as well,

00:27:21.839 --> 00:27:25.319
doing card readings, cardimancy dream interpretation

00:27:25.319 --> 00:27:32.660
sessions during that later in July and I'm also

00:27:32.660 --> 00:27:36.279
going to be on the schedule very soon to be a

00:27:36.279 --> 00:27:39.519
regular reader on Tuesdays. They have some fantastic

00:27:39.519 --> 00:27:42.839
readers and psychics and shamans and healers

00:27:42.839 --> 00:27:45.359
and people that do this kind of work at the Conjuring

00:27:45.359 --> 00:27:48.519
Tree and schedule them throughout the week. So

00:27:48.519 --> 00:27:50.240
you can go just about any day and there's going

00:27:50.240 --> 00:27:53.940
to be somebody there and I'll be there on Tuesdays

00:27:53.940 --> 00:27:57.059
starting very soon. Also, if you like my shirt,

00:27:57.640 --> 00:28:00.660
Goddess Vibes Only, it's super great t -shirt

00:28:00.660 --> 00:28:03.640
light for summer. I'm just like hanging out in

00:28:03.640 --> 00:28:06.920
my jean shorts and t -shirts all summer. Goddess

00:28:06.920 --> 00:28:11.079
Vibes Only and the Audacity card shirts are both

00:28:11.079 --> 00:28:15.599
from Spark at the Trolley Square Mall. They're

00:28:15.599 --> 00:28:18.539
one of my favorite places to get attire, cute

00:28:18.539 --> 00:28:22.420
clothes, they have just the funkiest... Funnest

00:28:22.420 --> 00:28:27.599
clothes ever Overalls and witchy kind of outfits

00:28:27.599 --> 00:28:30.079
and just things that I love to wear on a regular

00:28:30.079 --> 00:28:33.980
basis. So Shout out to them. They did not pay

00:28:33.980 --> 00:28:36.940
for this endorsement at all I'm just letting

00:28:36.940 --> 00:28:40.240
you know because I like them and I think that's

00:28:40.240 --> 00:28:42.759
what you should do for places you like and support

00:28:42.759 --> 00:28:45.640
All right magical people. I want you to remember

00:28:45.640 --> 00:28:50.539
that you are light. So never forget your spark
