Hypnotherapy Rewires Your Subconscious: Jenn Boyt
Hypnotherapy Rewires Your Subconscious: Jenn Boyt
In This Episode
Courtney Pearl sits down with Jen Boyd, a certified hypnotherapist trained in rapid transformational therapy (RTT) and host of the podcast Her Subconscious Blueprint, to explore how the subconscious shapes the beliefs we carry into adulthood. Jen explains that RTT is not the stage hypnosis people picture. The listener remains in control throughout, and the work relies on the theta brain state, the same state we move through as we fall asleep and wake. Together they examine how money blocks, formed in early childhood, can keep a person from believing they can earn a living doing what they love, even after they have said it aloud a hundred times.
The conversation covers what a session looks like, from intake and childhood scene work to the recordings clients listen to for 21 days. Courtney and Jen compare their approaches to emotional processing and energy work, discuss neuroplasticity and why awareness, choosing, and trust, the ACT method, can interrupt old patterns one small moment at a time. Jen also shares a personal account of physical symptoms she traced to a childhood role of protecting her mother. The episode closes with a practical reminder to vet any healer you hire, including a discovery call.

Hello, welcome to Practically Magick. I am your host Courtney Pearl, Bardic Witch, Celtic Priestess, whatever you'd like to call me today. And I am so lucky because I have a guest today. Jen Boyd is joining me. Jen, we're going to talk a little bit about hypnotherapy today.
So I've invited you on. Can you tell us a little bit about you and your business? Yeah. So my name is Jen Boyd. I am the host of a podcast, Her Subconscious Blueprint.
I'm also a certified hypnotherapist, specifically with RTT, rapid transformational therapy. So it's a different kind of hypnosis. A lot of times when you say hypnosis, people think like you're going to go on stage and bark like a dog. That is not what this is. I'm also a certified mindset coach.
So just helping people have a more positive mindset and tying that in with the RTT hypnotherapy. So I also do a lot of coaching on mindset and just helping people kind of become the version of themselves that they truly know they can be, but sometimes they're afraid to or they don't know how. So kind of help guide them and coach them through that. Yes, I have some stories and thoughts to share about this as we get into it. But before we get too far into it, we're going to pull out Tarot card because that's what we do here on Practically Magick, opening our show with some sort of message for the audience or maybe for you, Jen.
I don't know. We're going to see what this card says. And I always say that whenever you're listening to this or however this finds you, this card was meant for you in this moment. So take that for what it is. And today I am pulling from, show you the deck I have, the Everyday Witch because it's October and we like to get a little silly with our witchiness during this time of year.
It's a little bit more commercialized version of the witch. But remember, we're witches all year long because we are women in total control of herself, of ourselves. Here we are. I'm going to pull card. I never know what I'm going to pull ahead of time.
So we'll just see. Oh, lovely. Okay. I'm going to show this on camera so those who can see, it's a witch doing the yoga pose and in the Tarot it's the Temperance card, which I always associate with the feeling of the impossible becoming possible. It's kind of the thought that comes through my head.
There are probably many Tarot readers that would disagree with me and be like, that's not what temperance is. But that's what comes to my mind is when I'm working on the physical and I'm doing yoga or I'm doing some form of physical movement for meditation, I like to do this pose. I like to do a balance practice because I feel like if I can balance in my body, maybe I can stay balanced in my life. Maybe I can actually make things work where I previously just didn't know they would work. I didn't know how they would work.
And so the first thing I thought when I saw this card was working on those unbelievable things. One of the things I've been working on recently is the belief that I can make money doing what I love to do. And that sounds so simple. I mean, we should be able to believe that, right? But I realized, oh my gosh, I say it and I teach it.
But there is still a part of me deep down that doesn't believe that I really could. And it keeps me blocked a lot of times. Any thoughts on this card, Dem? What do you think about it? Yeah, I love that card.
I think that she looks very grounded and secure in herself and very stable. And I totally relate to what you said, too. Like, telling ourselves and then believing it, that's one thing. Like, we can tell ourselves that we are capable, worthy and deserving of making money doing what we love, but then believing it is another thing. But we are all worthy and deserving of doing what we love and allowing that money to flow into us.
But there's something blocking us that is saying, like, you're not good enough. You need to take another course or you're not worthy enough or money doesn't come to me easy. And finding those blocks and they could come from your childhood as easy as your mom saying, like, you asked for a toy and she says, no, we don't have the money for that. And this neat jerk reaction of no, that could have created so many money blocks and money wounds at such a young age that we don't even recognize now and how we bring awareness to them. So I love that card.
I think it shows how powerful she is to be her and a woman that can achieve whatever she wants. So, yeah, yeah. And I think that if I was going to do a session with you, which after we have our discussion today, this might be my next move, is I would want to get deeper into that subconscious to be able to say, if I know consciously that that's true, why is it that my subconscious is still running these patterns of like, I mean, but not really. Like, OK, you can make money doing what you love. Of course you can.
Of course you can. Everybody should be able to do that. That's totally possible. And the world is open to you. And then deep down somewhere in there, there's still what I consider to be an inner child work when I work with clients.
There's some part of me that's going, not really. Like, am I good enough? Am I educated enough? Am I knowledgeable enough? Like, who am I to do this?
Because we compare ourselves with everyone else, but we have our own story and we have to make sure that, like, we know our story is important and that we are worthy to do this work and that somebody needs us and the people that need us will come to us at the exact time we need them and they need us. Yeah. And it's really easy to, like, coach other people. But then when you have to do it yourself, you're like, that's also where another limiting belief comes in. It's like, I can tell people all this, but then it comes to me and I'm like, maybe I need to do more work before I'm worthy enough to help other people.
Yeah. Well, the work never ends. And I'm very, I'm one of those people that, while I have gone on a very long and incredible healing journey of my own, and I can talk about that all day, I can still recognize and love to especially on something like this, a podcast where people can go, wait, she's supposed to be an expert or whatever it is that I'm supposed to be, you know, supposed to be an expert in all of these things. And then she's fully admitting, oh, there are all these things I'm still working on. And I would rather come at it that way and present myself in that way than to walk around pretending like this fully healed and arrived person and lie.
Because I truly don't believe there is such a thing as being arrived, right? There's not. And wouldn't you rather be working with someone that's authentic and has gone through these things and can relate to you rather than like robotic, like I'm, I've done all the work, I've done all the healing, like, no, actually they're authentic. They have empathy. They like, know what I'm going through because they've gone through it themselves.
Like, I would much rather work with someone like that, that doesn't have everything figured out. And also we can heal from them. Like we can heal from our clients as well, because, you know, they can bring out things in us where it's like, oh, I actually kind of relate to what they're doing. They're filling too. Like, I should maybe recognize that or, you know, explore that a little bit more.
So I always say that you're always a teacher and you're a student. And there's a saying that I love, it says when the student's ready, the teacher will show up. And I live by that. I love that. I think that whenever you're ready for something, like your teacher shows up, but we're always teaching and we're always learning.
So I think we're always the teacher and we're always the student, because even though if we're working with a client or working with somebody on healing or doing, you know, energy work or whatever, we also are learning from them as well as they're learning from us. So I love that vulnerability and the authenticity. Like, I think that's huge when you're working with people and that's what they look for. Like, they want to work with somebody that's relatable and doesn't have all everything figured out yet. So yeah, I'm not trying to show this Instagram life of, but again, working on the idea that I could make art, I can do healing work, I can do the things I'm passionate about and helping people, and I deserve to also make a living at it.
And I will, and I will make a living at it and I will make money at it. Those are things that I, yeah, I'm still working on. But I want to dive into hypnotherapy as a modality of healing that for me, it might have even been something that triggered my path in this career and what I do. So I read the book, The Hypnotherapist, I think it was called. It's a novel.
It's not a, now I'm trying to remember. Sorry, pause for a second because I was like, maybe I should look up what it's, oh, it's the Hypnotist's Love Story. I'm glad I looked that up. I wouldn't remember that. Leanne Moriarty, oh my gosh, Leanne Moriarty.
She's a famous novelist. We know her. I'm going to say her name wrong. But the point is I read that book many, many years ago. I was a new mom, I think.
I had just left teaching and was a stay-at-home mom for my first son. And I read that book and I thought, oh my gosh, she just like lives the quaintest, nicest little life. I love the idea of she works out of her home, she brings clients in, she does these sessions with them. They get to heal. They get to have these experiences that she gets to guide them through and then on to the next person.
And I mean, it's a novel. It's a fictional novel. But again, she was a single person in a cute little cottage by the ocean or such thing, some quaint thing. And she's making a living at it. So I thought, that's the life I want.
I want something like that. I want a career where that's possible or that I'm doing something in that kind of work. Freedom. You want freedom. And the freedom.
While also having maybe some stability or some security in it. I thought that was very desirable. Is the freedom to do whatever you want and have that financial security. Yeah, it looks so wonderful. And so I actually spent a couple of years just mulling on that idea or toying with it before I got into energy healing work and emotional processing, which we'll get into a little bit later, but I find it to be very, very similar in the effects of how it works.
But not knowing enough about hypnotherapy, I can't say that it's the same thing, but I'm not hypnotizing or doing something like that when I guide through an emotional process. But it's a very similar work. So I think that's how I ended up where I'm at. And like you said, some of the only experiences that we have talking about hypnotizing or what that's like, I remember they hired one for our senior party and did the whole stage show thing. And I remember thinking, oh, that's scary.
How can this be real? I was just like, what's happening? I don't want to go there and look like a fool. And that is actually a point I want to make too, is we're talking about it's October, the theme of October and spooky and scary things. I think fear has a big part to play in this in that not only are people maybe a little bit afraid to try it or afraid of what will happen or afraid of what it is, but also I think that the work itself is working on fear.
So maybe we could start there with fear. You have somebody who's never done it, doesn't know what it is exactly. What would you say about them being afraid? So the funny thing is, is we're hypnotizing ourselves every single day. We really are.
We're telling ourselves stories every single day, like go to the grocery store and you hear, they play certain songs to make people buy certain things. They're hypnotizing you. Commercials are hypnotizing you. Like you're being hypnotized every single day and you don't even know it. Everything that we carry through our life now, we created from the age of zero to seven.
So we have created these subconscious patterns and beliefs from zero to seven. We don't even have a logical mind at that time and we've created all of these beliefs and they could be so simple, but we've carried them throughout our lives and those beliefs at that time protected us and kept us safe as a child, but now they become our limiting beliefs that block us. So really hypnosis and RTT specifically, you have complete control the entire time. You can come out of it at any single moment that you want. You have complete control.
What it's doing is your brain is in that theta brain state, which is the exact brain state that your mind is in right when you fall asleep and right when you, the first 20 minutes of waking up. So your mind is in that theta brain wave and that is when your critical mind is shut off and that is when your mind is most able to reprogram and kind of dig in. So RTT kind of the roadmap and how that works as we do and intake. And a lot of things can come up in just one session. Like you don't really need one session and we are only focusing on one thing in the session.
Like we're not focusing on anything else. So it's one intention, one thing that we want to work on. And then if you want to work on something else, that would be a separate session. So we do an intake. We ask a couple of questions on like what you want to work on.
What do you want the outcome to be? Like if I can wave a magic wand, what would you want? So we really focus on like the positive of how do we change these beliefs and flip them kind of the dichotomy. And I always say like faith over fear. It's so funny because people go to fear.
Our mind goes to fear because our mind's job is to protect us. And so we're like, oh wait, there's a cliff there. I can't go any further. But if you actually went to the edge of the cliff, you would see there were stairs that you can take down there and you were too scared to even go down there to see. So faith and fear are actually the exact same thing.
Fear you're making something up in your head that hasn't even happened. And you are with faith as well. Faith you're making up something that hasn't happened. So if you can imagine the worst case scenario, like why can't you imagine the best case scenario and start training your mind that way? So we do an intake form.
We kind of figure out what you want the outcome to be. And then we start going into hypnosis. We kind of count you down. We go down 10 stairs and we get your mind relaxed into that theta brain state. And then we're going to regress back to three different scenes from your childhood that are related to whatever you want to work on.
So we're going to go through three different scenes. I've had clients that go back to when they were babies or they've gone back to when they were three and they vividly remember these situations and these things that happened to them. And they're telling me how they feel about them. And then we rewrite the story. So I can share one client.
She was having a lot of issues like sleeping and just waking up and having like major anxiety. And one of the scenes we took her back to, so she was raised mostly by her dad. Her mom and dad got divorced and then she lived with her dad, but she would go see her mom. But her mom was having a lot of abuse, like substance abuse. And so sometimes her mom would show up, sometimes she wouldn't.
So they would do the exchange. They would meet in a parking lot. She went with her mom that weekend and they got pulled over. And she was four years old, I think, in the backseat and there was bags in the backseat of alcohol. They got pulled over.
Her mom was drunk and the cops took her. Well, in her mind, she thought that was her fault because she should have said something to her mom when she got in the car, like to get rid of them. She just thought she wasn't worthy enough for her mom to choose her instead of the abuse. And so she has created this story her entire life that it was all her fault. So we rewrote that program.
And so at the end of the session, you kind of close it out. And then I give them a recording that they listened to for 21 days. That's all rewriting that story, telling them that they're worthy and that they do deserve to be happy. And just all of this positivity on reprogramming their mind and rewriting that specific story. So as we went through that, you know, I'm like, it's not your four years old.
You don't know any different. Like your mom is the adult. She had to make those decisions and she was struggling. She had a hard time. Like it wasn't anything to do with her loving you less.
She didn't know any different. And that was her way of like coping. And so we kind of rewrote that story. So it does take 21 days to create any type of habit or pattern or reprogramming. So they listen to this every single day for 21 days.
And they can listen to it at night. And if they fall asleep, that's okay. But they do have to listen to it like in a quiet spot. They can't do like why they're multitasking because they really just kind of have to be relaxed in that theta state and reprogramming their mind. But you can reprogram your mind with anything.
And a lot of the things that I teach and coach on, I created the ACT method, A-C-T. And that came of me just like acting as if, acting as if everything is going to work out. Acting as if everything that happens to me is good. Whether it seems bad at the time, like it's happening to me for a reason, what do I need to learn from this? So, and really just becoming her, like that version that deserves to make money doing what she loves.
And that version of you that is worthy of that and that version of you that is allowing that to happen. So the A is awareness, C is choosing, and T is trust. And that is just a really easy takeaway that you can stop when you have these negative thoughts. Like, okay, I'm having this thought. Okay, I'm aware of it.
What is a different thought I can replace that with? So I'm choosing to replace that with something different, more positive, better. And then I'm going to trust myself that I believe it. And I'm going to trust myself that everything always works out for me. So that's kind of like my strategy that I found worked for me to start interrupting the patterns and choosing different and then trusting.
So that's kind of how RTT works and the hypnotherapy each session. It can take anywhere from two to two and a half hours by the time start to finish with the intake. And then the recording is typically like we close that out at the end. And then I record that and give that to them. That's about 15, 20 minutes that they'll listen to each day.
So it really just depends on the scenes that we go through and how long they're in each scene as we've regressed back to childhood. But it's crazy. Like one of the scenes too with a specific client, she's like, I don't remember that. Like why did my brain go to that? And I said, because that's the specific thing that needed to come up for you at that time.
She's like, I didn't even remember that happening. Like, I totally forgot about it. It's so interesting as you described the process of it. It is very similar to emotional processing. And we're not trained to put them into certain state or like how they come into it.
We just tell them to close their eyes and we start getting them relaxed. But what's interesting is there's so many similarities and I love that there's just kind of a different, it's almost like we're coming to the same place, but we just like took a little bit different path to get there. And I've had similar experiences with clients where when we're doing emotional processing, we'll usually use muscle testing to get to an age. And sometimes the client doesn't have their one specific thing that they're working on. Sometimes they don't know what it is.
They just they don't feel great or whatever it is. And so they'll say, I would just like my body to bring up whatever is the most important issue. And so I'll muscle test and trust that whatever age comes up, that's what's meant to be. And then we'll go to whatever, and we don't call it scenes, but it's very similar as to like what comes up for you. If you close your eyes and you see your child, your inner child self, your five year old self, let's say we go to five, we'll say, what is she feeling?
Does she feel safe? Yeah. Does she feel like what would she need to do to feel safe? And then kind of working through there and rather than like experiences or even. And it's funny because a lot of people have said to me like, I didn't even remember some of the came up and that that was at that age.
Like at first I was like, why five? I don't know why I'm going to five. Nothing happened at five or whatever. And then they start spilling the beans and it's kind of like, it just comes out. They're like, oh my gosh, five is when this happened.
And it may be something that wasn't such a big event that they would have had, you know, like, oh, that's my parents got divorced or oh, that's when this happened. It's like, oh, I'm actually having a memory right now of like when I reached for my dad's hand and he pulled away. And it could be something that simple. Yeah. Or that, you know.
Yeah. Or, you know, like I love chocolate because every time I went to my dad's, he would have candy for me or chocolate or ice cream. And that's what made me feel loved. So when I'm depressed and I'm sad, like that's why I'm going to go to that and binge it, because that's how I felt loved. Like it could be so simple like that.
And and within RTT, there's a couple different tools that we use called like upgrading the child or like you going into the room and being like the loving parent now that you never had. So there's a lot of different tools based on like direction that we go that we kind of use to kind of close it off before doing that transformational audio. Yeah. Oh, I love that. And I'm kind of seeing it as while you're talking them through and asking the questions and you're guiding them.
As you're doing that, I picture it the way that we kind of go what it was, what feeling are you having and then pull that out in a shape and color. And we look at that as shapes and colors as they're pulling those out. I mean, it's a different thing. It's different experiences, but it's just cool that. And I just want to point out how important it is.
Because you just said all the you know, oh, we have all these tools, right? This is why being trained and being a trained person in what we do. I'm certified in trained emotional processing. This is what I do. I don't call it hymnotherapy.
I don't claim to be anything about that. And for you, with the particular thing you do and you help clients with. You can tell there is training there because you have those tools. You know what to say. You know what your client might need and like, OK, I'm going to pull this tool out of my toolbox.
I'm going to help them in this way. I have to point that out because while there are so many healing modalities in this world, I mean, so, so, so many, so many. Even like licensed therapy, like, you know, being a clinical. Yeah, right. And all of the schooling that goes into being able to provide that.
I never stop telling people, anyone who's listening, all my fans, all my podcast fans listening, I'm like, please just vet your people. Like if you're going to someone, you want to know that you're going to someone you can trust who has the training to pull the right tools out or is trauma informed and doesn't just say trauma informed, but is actually trained in trauma informed things. Always do a discovery call. See if you even resonate with them, like on an energy or personality level before you commit. Like, I mean, I always offer a discovery call where, because I need to see if they're a right fit for me too.
Like, if it's like too much for me, like energy wise or emotional, and it's going to trigger me, like I have to say no to, so it has to be a good fit for both. And you have to know if you're comfortable working with that or not. Like some things I'm like, you know, that's not my expertise. I'm not comfortable working with that. Like I can help you find someone else, but also you want to work with someone that can say that too, not someone that's just like, I'm going to take every client, like someone that really cares about you and cares about your healing.
So you want to make sure too, yeah, you're vetting that out that they're a good fit for you and you're a good fit for them. And you're not just collecting, you know, your next fee. Like you truly care about their outcome and helping them and supporting them. So. Perfect.
Yeah. I just, I flew into my head when you were talking about tools and I'm like, yes. I mean, when you're talking to somebody and you know that they have that kind of training and they have that kind of experience to do that, which by the way, speaking of, because when I was looking into it, when it was just a thought in my little brain of like, I might like a career like that. I might like doing something like that. Looking at what schools are out there and what sort of training is, can you tell us a little bit about your training and how you can see?
Yeah. So it's kind of funny how this even, I like had never even thought about this. Like I've always wanted to work with people and coach people. I actually started going to school after high school to be a marriage and family therapist. And then I was like, oh, that's a lot of schooling.
I actually hate school. Like I don't want to do that anymore, but I always knew I wanted to help people. And then life happened, careers happen, and you just took a different path. And then I kind of came full circle and came across this. So I had an app called Mind Valley.
I don't know if you've heard about it or not, but it's kind of like masterclass, but more like spiritual mindset, a lot of subconscious stuff. The founder is Vishen Lakshmi and he's amazing. And I kind of like went down a rabbit hole with his stuff. And I got this app and there's like a lot of different things on here. Like you can do a lot of different courses for free.
A lot of like hypnosis, a lot of like meditations, stuff like that. So there was this one course I took from Marissa Peer and it's RTT. She's the founder of RTT and she's from London. And so I took her course, which was not to teach me, but to do a lot of the work, like the hypnosis and subconscious and money blocks and all of this. And then I kind of like went down that rabbit hole and I was like, oh, I actually can get certified to do this.
So then I looked into it and I took her course. It took me six months to get through. And then I actually flew to New York for an entire week at the New York School of Medicine and got like double certification where it was in person and we did a lot of workshops. So that's kind of how I went down that. And I found a lot of healing with that within myself.
So during the additional training that I had in New York, we were in a breakout session. And so I can just kind of share a little bit of how this affected me and impacted me and helped me. But we had to pick like an element, like something in our body that we wanted to heal or something. And I would get really bad migraines when I was younger and I still would get them every once in a while, like something would trigger them and I'd have like just a really bad migraine where I just had to like go lay down and I would get nauseous. And so during this session, I like immediately came into me like during one of my regressions and I was like, I got headaches in high school because I needed to stay home from school to protect my mom.
I mean, I talk about this on my podcast. I'm very vulnerable with it and very authentic and honest with it. But I did grow up in a household where there was alcohol abuse and verbal abuse and emotional abuse, financial abuse. So by my stepdad and so I was like, I got those to stay home from school to protect my mom because I needed to make sure she was safe. And it was just so crazy because I would have never even like put that together.
Like I went to doctors, they did all the tests, they couldn't find anything. I had to take medication when I'd get one, like just crazy. And I was like, why am I getting these? And then every once in a while, like I would get one. And when I realized like when I was getting one, it was kind of triggering in that same situation, not that I was in that situation, but like some of the patterns were coming back.
So after that, like I have not gotten a single migraine to that extent ever again. So once I released that and I just said like my mom, I mean, she's no longer married to him, but I was just like, my mom is okay. My mom is safe. She is an adult and she can take care of herself. And I trust that God, universe, whatever modality you believe in is protecting her and keeping her safe.
That's not my job to do. So once I kind of like let that go through hypnosis and realize like it's not my job, like I hadn't, I haven't had a single migraine since then. So that was my personal experience where I was like, okay, this has my full buy-in. Like I totally believe this can help you with so many things. Heather K physical symptoms.
I mean, obviously in energy healing work, you learn a lot about where in the body we trap energy that's connected to emotional health. And so it makes perfect sense to me. And you know, and even talking about like headaches, where in the crown chakra would like there be some, I need to take care of someone else or maybe even connected to the sacral chakra, which is like relationships and codependency and I need to, I need to protect her, take care of her and where that might play a part in it. So it's so cool because similarly we have like an emotional process session, we'll do a clearing where we'll say like, you know, pulled out all these shapes and colors. We might pull out like the need to take care of my mom or the, or the headaches specifically, just pull it out in a color.
What color is it? What does it look like? What shape is it? What container do we put it in? All the things that we visualize and then we clear it.
And that clearing statement that we use is kind of similar to what you just described where you're like, I'm going to let that go. I don't, I no longer need to do that. I can trust, you know, put it to some higher power that they'll take care of it. So I'm sending it to the sun to be repolarized or I'm sending it into the earth to be fertilizer, or I'm sending it, you know, to the universal source of energy or God or whatever, you know? And then we're replacing it with, I can take care of myself.
I can love myself. People need me to be healthy. Yeah. It's not my job. And like affirmations.
Yep. So yeah, I mean, just a very like parallel, similar experiences to, to achieve this energetic exchange that is happening within the body or happening in the subconscious and affecting the body, obviously. I mean, I think we live in a world now where most people have at least heard of your body keeps the score or feelings buried alive, never die, which is required reading in our course and our program. And it's like, I think we're coming to a place where people generally agree. Yeah.
It's a little more accepted body. Yeah. Yeah. Is affected by those things and experiences we've had. And I think that a lot of that work too has like where science meets spirituality, like Bruce Lipton has brought in a lot of that, you know, is taboo for them to like a scientist to also in spirituality.
But I think a lot of people like that have really brought a lot of awareness into that, like science and spirituality, like actually are pretty similar. It's not just data and facts. Like once you like go down that rabbit hole and dig in, it's, it's pretty amazing. Yeah. And you've kind of brought up to like the effects of in neuro pathways, which I talk a lot about too with clients we do when I teach like a healing through art course, which I've been doing for a couple of years now taking what I do with one-on-one with clients and turning it into an art class, basically.
But I, you know, we talk a lot about those like neuro pathways and it's exactly, I mean, again, we're like mixing the, okay, you know, hymnal therapy or emotional processing or energy work, it's all a little woo woo. But then when you really dig into it, not so woo woo. It's actually like changing your neuro pathways. It's actually scientifically proven that it happens. Like, Right.
You have this neuroplasticity. So like, you've always thought this was the way to do it, but you're, you're able to change that mindset. And I talk about too, like the age, like you said, up to seven or eight years old is when like your brain is fully mapped. And so you can meet yourself with a lot of compassion, first of all, to be like, well, the way I, this is the way I put it in my sessions. Feel free to steal it.
But I say there's good news and there's good news. The good news is you are the way you are and you do life the way you do life. It's not really your fault. It's not actually your fault. You created those neural pathways before you were even eight years old.
And you weren't logical. Like you said, it's not a logical brain that came up with these programs that say, when I'm in pain, I do this. When I'm afraid, I do that. When I need love, I do this. Like the, the basic human needs and the chemical needs your brain is trying to get.
You do things the way you do it. But, Cause that's all you know. Cause it's all you know. And so, I mean, like wrapping yourself up in compassion for that. It's what your mind and your brain is saying, this is safe, because I know what the outcome is going to be.
Your mind's only number one job is to keep you safe. It does not care if it's good or bad or it doesn't care. Its only job is to keep you safe. So if what's familiar is safe, even though you know it's not the best outcome, you still know the outcome that's safe to your, to your mind. Right.
Yeah. And those, those neurons that fire together, and you can create new patterns. So like how I explain it, like I love your, you have good news and good news. How I explain it is like, imagine walking through a field and the weeds are, you know, four feet tall. You walk through that.
That's pretty hard to get through that the first time. So this is how you're creating new neural pathways. And then the second time, it's a little easier. The third time, it's a little easier. By the 10th time of you telling yourself this story, that path has worn down that now those neurons are firing together and that's your new story.
So I always say, tell yourself a better lie because what you're telling yourself a lie, everything that we're telling ourselves is a lie. So tell yourself a better lie. Who told you that that was truth? Who told you that you had to do it that way? And whose truth is it?
Is it your grandma's? Is it your great grandma's? And you just kept telling that same story. Well, now you have the ability to change that story. Like that's not your story.
That's their story. So I always ask them like, who whose truth is that? And how is it true? And they're like, well, it's not true. That's just the way I've always done it.
And I'm like, yeah. So what is true for you? Yeah. Yeah. And similarly, I do like a process of like, what payoff are you getting?
Believing that. Because if they can identify, you know, it's not really a good way. But I am trying, I did always think I was going to get a need met that way. Like, may not have actually worked that well, but I do it because I'm hoping to get love and connection, some sort of control over the situation, you know, whatever it is. But once they can identify that they are trying to get a need met that way.
And then what is it costing you? It's usually costing the exact thing that they're hoping to get. It's costing me the exact same thing you're afraid of. It just makes it a little easier to detach from the old story so that they can be like, I mean, duh. Like, yeah, I get now why I would have done it that way before.
You know, because most of the time the first answer that I get is like, well, nothing, it's not benefiting me at all. And I'm like, but you must think it is, or you must believe in some way that it would. Or, you know, somewhere along the way that you did. Or it's just familiar and you don't know any different and you don't know how to recognize and interrupt the pattern. So it's like, one thing to know, like, I always tell people, like, it's one thing to know better.
It doesn't mean you're going to do better. Like, you can read all the books, you can listen to all the things and still find yourself like repeating the same patterns. And why? It's because sometimes the problem isn't that you don't know what to do. It's that you've spent years learning to respond to life in a certain way.
And I think that's why I'm so passionate about like the subconscious reprogramming, because it's exploring the belief and the patterns that we've developed and understanding how are they influencing us? How are they creating opportunities for us to respond different? And how are they holding us up to the same pattern? And then how are they holding us back? So I think that's why like the awareness and then the interruption of the pattern is so huge, because just stopping to recognize it like, all right, why am I telling myself that I'm not good enough to make money doing what I love?
Okay. Okay, so now I have that thought. Okay, how could I think about that different? Okay. And then what actions could I take to change that?
And it like people I think they think healing has to be so big, but it can be one simple thing every day. It's like, okay, today I recognized that I do this. Tomorrow, I'm going to change that pattern. And I'm going to stop and interrupt every time I hear that thought in my head. So it can be so small in healing.
It's just, I think people stop the process because they get so overwhelmed because they think it has to be like so many like, I have to journal for 30 minutes and then I have to meditate and then I have to do this. Yeah. Then I do therapy and I, oh, it's so much I don't know what to do. I'm gonna do nothing. But it can be so small.
Like, first, I'm gonna be aware, I'm gonna interrupt it. And then I'm going to choose to trust myself and believe in myself. And I'm gonna choose a different thought. I always say start small. Like, today, everywhere I go, I'm going to hit every green light.
Guess what, you're only going to recognize the green lights where before you recognize every, every red light. And so that's all you focused on. But now I'm like, I'm going to hit every green light. And I will tell you, that works for me every day. Every single time.
And then when I do randomly hit a red light, I don't care. Because I just hit 10 green lights. That one red light doesn't bother me anymore. It's insignificant, right? It doesn't even matter.
Or I, I'm going to find the most perfect parking spot when I get to the airport. I don't have to drive up and down every aisle finding it. Like, I'm going to pull in, I'm going to find it right by the bus stop. Every single time. Either someone's pulling out or there's a spot there.
And it's so easy. And then you start training your mind because your mind is always looking for evidence to prove you right. So if you're like, nothing ever works out for me, that's all you're going to ever recognize. That's all you're going to ever see. But when you say like, everything works out for me, I hit every green light, I get the most perfect parking spot.
And you can test yourself. Be like, today, I'm going to see a butterfly. I guarantee you, you will see a butterfly. But your mind has to be open. Like it doesn't have to be a butterfly flying around in the air.
It could be a butterfly sticker on someone's water bottle on a car. It could be you walk in somewhere and there's a picture of a butterfly. It could be that someone has a butterfly tattoo. So those small things start to train your mind to trust you and believe you and bring evidence. And that is the smallest way to start reprogramming your subconscious to look for the more positive and believe yourself and trust yourself.
Because I think a lot of fear is like, you don't believe and trust yourself. And so it's easier to just be afraid of the worst case scenario. Yes. And that's, I mean, we talk a lot about that exact thing on this podcast, because I see a lot of people in the witchcraft community, people who call themselves baby witches, or they're trying to like get into like, what is magic, magic with a CK. Yeah, which is why I named this podcast.
But it's, it's interesting to me to see questions come up from people in that community or in that spiritual sort of practice is that they are looking for. They're looking for magic with a C. Like they're, they're looking for, you know, illusions and magic ones and they're looking for Harry Potter and, you know, this and that, wave my magic wand and this happens. What you described, like being able to say, I'm going to start looking for this and then this is what's going to come up. That to me is magic.
That is what witchcraft is. It's not that the witch is making green lights happen more than it was anyway. Yeah, they were always there. You just never saw them. They were there.
Yes, exactly. And that's, I mean, call it witchcraft, magic, manifesting, whatever. I have the most amazing manifestation stories that happen to me all the time. But I have like a particular one that just like when I was going through my divorce and my house and like finding the perfect house and everything, like, I don't think we have time to get into it today. It's a little bit longer, but manifesting or magic or witch, whatever, that is how you start manifesting your dream life is by those little things like, it's just your wording to and affirmations.
Like, I kind of just think they're complete BS. Because people don't use them correctly. Like, I am going to be a millionaire. But do you really believe that? Like, that affirmation is not going to work because you can say you're going to be a millionaire all day long.
But if you truly don't believe that that affirmation is just BS. Like, how about you do an affirmation that says like, every day I'm moving closer to making money in the best way that aligns with my true passions. That's a little bit more believable. Then I'm a millionaire, right? Like, I think I could buy into that a little bit better.
And then, you know, every day, you just keep saying that and then you take inspired actions to your next step on, okay, how do I do that? I hire a coach, I get a plan. I love how you showed me one time you had a planner and you would leave spaces open that you wanted to fill and magically those would fill up and someone would need you at that time. And my coach actually taught me that too. So I've kind of like taken that on like, here's how much I want to make each month.
This is how many spots I have open. And I'm manifesting these people to come to me that need me. So it's just a different way of thinking about affirmations too that like, we think we have to have this big grandiose affirmation. But like, really, that's never gonna work. Like, you have to take an affirmation that you believe is actually going to be believable because like, how am I gonna be a millionaire?
Like, yeah, that's great. And that's nice. But like, really, I don't believe that. It has to come with the will, the subconscious like, behind it. And that's we talk a lot about that on this podcast.
So for those who've been listening since season one, that's kind of where I started this whole journey with like, there has to be components to a spell. There can't just be the words. The words are not enough, right? And a lot of people believe manifesting is just saying it and just, you know, magically drops in your lap. But like, you also have to take inspired action.
Yes, speak it into existence. There's different ways of manifesting. I use a lot of times like the 369 method, where you're writing it three times in the morning, six times in the afternoon, nine times at night, in red ink. And that happens so fast. How that manifestation comes up.
But yeah, it's really just, so you can't just say it and then expect it to fall in your lap. Like you also have to take inspired action to work with it. And that's the way it works. And I think that's the way it works towards that as well. But also putting it pen to paper really helps you speak it into existence.
And how do I take my next step? It doesn't have to be big. It can be small. Because I think when we get our goals too big, we that's when we quit. Yes.
Well, it's, it's already just in this conversation inspiring me and making me feel like, okay, yeah, I'm like, yeah, that's, I know this, why, why don't I do it? Like, what's stopping me from from moving through that? And so it's I'm hoping that everybody listening is feeling the same way as we talk about this. And they're feeling like, wait, so it is possible. Like I, I maybe lost my way somewhere along that.
Yeah. And just to kind of wrap it up. So you know, we're running out of time. But I, as you were talking, there was, there was, you know, and I do a lot of my healing work with art, and I incorporate art into a lot of it. And I was thinking about how I teach drawing to kids.
And I was thinking about how, when I first start teaching drawing faces, and I'll, you know, I'll kind of say like, when you're drawing a person's face, most artists have already come up with their way of drawing a face. Most young artists are like, I here's my little oval. And then like, someone showed me once upon a time how to do a little half circle, and that's the nose. And we know that eyes are round. So we make circles for eyes.
So you've already kind of like, implanted this idea of this is how to draw a face. So when I put a new young little student in front of another student, and I say you're going to take turns drawing each other's faces. A lot of times, they won't even look at the face in front of them. They'll just start drawing what they know is a face. They're like, here's the face.
And I go, now, if you do that, every face you draw will look the same. And you'll always wonder why you can't draw faces, or why you can't draw, you know, a person, because you have to let go of the idea of the face. You have to let go of the idea that you're drawing a face. You have to reprogram your mind into saying, I'm going to draw what I see in front of me. What are the lines and shapes that actually make the face that is looking at me right across this table?
Yeah. And when I can kind of like, and the younger they are, the better they are at it, because they haven't had time to like solidify those old programs, but they're like, oh, so there's like a little bit of a tilt to their eyebrow. There's a little bit of a like a dip here, and then it comes out further because they have maybe wider cheeks than someone else or whatever it is, they start to really see things in front of them. And to me, as we talk about just, you know, what we've been describing today is like reprogramming our minds being able to go deeper. That's what I'm picturing is just like an art lesson where I'm trying to like pull out those old patterns and say, like, if you keep doing that, you'll never learn to draw face.
Exactly. Right? Yep. I love that. I love that analogy.
That's perfect. So cool. It's been such a cool conversation with you today. And as we're getting ready to wrap it up, I just want to give everybody a chance to find you. So tell us where they can follow you.
And if they want to book a session with you. Yeah, so you can go to my website, it's her subconscious blueprint, and you can book a free discovery call there where we can talk and figure out what you need from me. And if we're a good fit to work together, and then I'm on Instagram at her subconscious blueprint. I also have my podcast, which I'm getting ready to start filming and recording season three. And it's her subconscious blueprint.
You can find that on anywhere you listen to your podcast, Spotify, Apple, YouTube. So I'm everywhere. But yeah, I appreciate you having me on. And this was an amazing conversation. Very, it's been so great.
And now I need to like get my act together and actually do a session for once. I mean, all the years that I've skirted around it. And I'm like, I know it's just so hard to find the time when you have kids and family and yeah, why don't I know it? That's part of my whole subconscious reprogram that I'm doing. I can do this and raise a family and all the things that I want to do.
Yeah, I know. We put so much on ourselves too, though. True. All right. Well, you know where to find me.
