Practically Magick: Past Life Regression With Laurieann
Practically Magick: Past Life Regression With Laurieann
In This Episode
Laurieann, a Reiki healer, end-of-life doula, medium, and past life regression practitioner, joins Courtney Pearl for a conversation about past lives, the Akashic records, and what it means to claim the word witch. The episode opens with Courtney's tarot pull, a Magician card from the Ethereal Visions deck, and the discussion of manifestation as the inner work that convinces your subconscious you deserve what you ask for. From there, the two talk about Practical Magic and Practical Magic 2, Salem's history, and why witch is a title worth reclaiming. Laurieann describes her own past life regression, including a lifetime in Italy and a Southern belle life, and explains how phobias and emotional patterns can trace back to earlier lives. They also discuss the Akashic records as a library of the soul's experiences, how a healing practice can connect to past life work, and why one lifetime may not be enough to learn everything a soul came to learn.

Hi, welcome back to Practically Magick. I am your host Courtney Pearl. I am magical and I have a special guest with me today, Laurieann. Laurieann, will you tell us a little bit about you and what do you do? Well, I am a witch.
I am a healer, I am a goddess. I remind myself that every day. Love it. I do Reiki healing. I'm an end of life doula.
I do past life regressions, card readings. Grew up in religion, left it when I was 18 years old, been spiritual my whole life, been a medium since I was nine years old when my grandma passed away and came through to me and kind of opened up my gifts. Yeah. Yeah. One of the most interesting things about you is you are a triple Pisces, right?
I am a triple Pisces. That always, that never ceases to amaze me that like, how are you walking around being you? Oh, it is so hard. I mean, I was always in trouble as a kid for being too sensitive, right? Oh, I get that.
Yeah, yeah. My mom used to say this little poem to me that would make me cry even more. And she always told me I was too sensitive and I kept hearing, gotta get toughen up. I heard that too. And I wear it as a badge of honor now.
I love being so sensitive. I'm learning to balance my emotions. But boy, what a journey it's been with being a triple Pisces, yeah. Yeah. I mean, that just to me seems like I've visualized somebody just walking around in the world without their skin on and just like.
That's how it feels. Feeling every single thing. And I'm a Pisces son, but yeah. No, I am triple. Plus it's my birth sign, right?
So it's in everything, yeah. Well, that's also what gives you all of these amazing gifts and lets you have the avenue that you have to get in touch with those gifts and to help people with it. So it's kind of like the canary in the coal mine. We should be looking towards the Pisces for like, how is everything going? Exactly.
Are we doing well or? Right. Maybe not. Maybe not so much. All right, well, we're gonna get into it a little bit today.
We have to start with our tarot card poll. Okay, let's do it. Regular fans know, all of my many, many listeners and fans know that we pull a tarot card at the beginning. And today I pulled the, this is the ethereal visions deck. And I pulled it, I was looking at all my decks, trying to decide which one we should use today.
And I picked this one because it is actually the first tarot deck that I ever got. Oh nice. And I love it. It's very, I just felt right today. Perfect.
I wanted to grab something a little more dark and Halloweeny, but I, this one was just the one. It was the one calling to me. And I, like you, love my decks. I probably have 55 decks of cards. Do you have people ask you what's your favorite one?
Yeah, and you're like, I can't choose. I have them because I love them. Exactly, that's like asking me to choose who's my favorite child or grandchild, right? Yeah. I can't do it.
Absolutely, yeah. Some are just right for the right moment. Yes, yes. And you just feel the energy of them and know that's the one to use. Okay, do you wanna pull the card?
Sure. Let's see what comes up. The magic show. Oh, how perfect. Perfect, right?
How magical. We'll show this on the screen. So those who are watching, you can see it. And I love this deck because it's kind of the gold foil. Yeah, it's beautiful.
But I also love it because the imagery and the artwork just feels so romantic to me. Yeah. It feels soft, like pastel colors, gentle. Yeah, and you know, talking about Pisces, Pisces are romantic and they're magical, so. Yeah, and the magician is the perfect card for us today because we're gonna talk a little bit about kind of what it means to be a magician, tapping into the gifts of if I think it, I make it so.
Or, you know, that very beginning step when we realize how powerful we actually are to be able to create or manifest. And I hesitate to use the word manifest because it's a buzzword. I mean, we've heard it so much in the last 10 years. And my listeners, again, my fans, my many fans, you know that we've talked about manifesting and we've talked about law of attraction and things like that and how, I think what went wrong with that in like when The Secret came out was no one was really telling anybody how to do it. It was a lot of like, well, you think the thing becomes the thing, you know, and then it works.
And then it's powerful and this and that, blah, blah, blah. And you see those videos of like someone going like this and then it's like, and things happen. And I think it's so misleading that people were like, wait, I've been sitting around manifesting for hours and days and months and nothing has come to me. And I come back to, when you come back to the actual work that it takes to convince your subconscious that you deserve it. Exactly.
That's when the real work begins because you can think all day long, I want a mansion, I want a mansion. And your subconscious is like, girl, you don't deserve a mansion. What are you thinking? Really, you want a mansion? I'm gonna put this right here so you can see it.
But that's, yeah, that's a really perfect carper. Yeah, some things we're gonna talk about today. But before we get to our subject today, we wanna do a little chit chat because we had a really cool event. We did. And got to screen the movie, Practical Magic 2.
It was so fun. That's all thanks to you. You rented out the theater. And I did. You were giving out the tickets to your clients.
Yes. Which is so generous and so fun. Thank you. And we were both like, what can we do to get involved with this movie coming out? Right.
Because we're both such fans of the movie. Yes, yes. Well, the first movie, obviously, but now the new movie. So tell me a little bit about your journey of the movie, of what the movie meant to you when you first saw it. Came out, Practical Magic, what, in the 90s?
Yes. I thought it was beautiful. Beautiful storytelling, beautiful cinema. And I feel like it really awakened the witch in me. Like I always knew she was in there, but I didn't understand her until that movie.
I resonated with both of them, the good girl and the bad girl. Yeah. Right? Good witch, bad witch. I don't think there's anything such as a bad witch, but that movie, The Aunts, that's who I strive to be when I'm a little bit older.
But I just, I'd love to... Are we not ants yet? We're not ants yet, are we? I don't know. I think I am more than you.
Yes, definitely. I keep thinking I'm in my croneers. I'm like, I used to want to be the Sandra Bullock and Nicole Joplin in the original movie. And now I'm like, I'm resonating a little bit more with the older generation now. But I love their use with the herbs, the blood moon.
That is really what got me in the movie. Like put me on the path of studying the moon cycles even more. I bought my first deck of cards around that movie. And so it just, it awakened something in me. I can't explain it other than I just felt more like me.
Yeah. And I think people get real excited about the aesthetic. I mean, people love the house. People love the whole vibe of the movie. But they can get excited.
They can get onto the trend of witchy kind of vibes. But I think you're right. I think there's some part of it too that says, I'm allowed to be who I am. The fight that Sally Owen is having in that movie to me is a representation of that. We all go through where we're like, is it okay for me to be me?
Because if I wanna be normal and fit in, I want the other moms on the mom tree phobos to like me. I wanna be part of that. And I love the aunt's line in the movie where she says, when are you gonna realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue? Exactly. And I'm like, let that be the anthem.
Yes. Every woman now in this day and age should be like, why do you wanna strive for that? Or what Bernie Brown says is which is like, the opposite of belonging is fitting in. Exactly. You're not really belonging anywhere if you're fitting in because they don't know you and they don't know the real you.
So I love that journey for Sally. Yes. Well, and with that journey, going back to what you talked about a moment ago with manifesting. She manifested as a child with the spell she cast, one blue eye, one green eye. Yeah.
And that clicked with me so much because I'm like, that's part of manifesting is the spell work, the intention. Yeah. Yeah. I read a book called The Ones in Future Witches. And so I use that, what they talk about in that book.
And it's a novel. It's not a text book. It's not fiction. But there are always some real truths to things when they are presented in certain ways. And one of the things they do in that book is the way that they do spells, is a lot of the nursery rhymes that we know are spells.
Yes, they are. And they were. And people don't realize that. Snuck in where they could so that people would know the spells even without knowing that they were spells. So they talk about the three ingredients of a spell, which is the words, the will and the way.
Yes. And I love that simple package to kind of put it in because then you're figuring out the spell. You're figuring out the words. You're figuring out the way, the ingredients you're putting into it, the ritual that you put into it. So tools and ritual.
But as I said before, the healing work of understanding you're deserving of it or the like, will you put into it is that third ingredient that a lot of people miss out on because they're like, I'm doing the thing. Right. And I'm having a lot of fun with that. And it's all great. But then you know that Sally in that scene really meant it.
She did. And really meant that this love would find her and that this was how she wanted that to work out. I mean, obviously as a child, she was like, no one is going to fit this spell. Exactly. So that means I'll never fall in love.
And that's not quite how the universe works, does it? Exactly. Exactly. It brings you what you ask for. Yeah.
Anyway, so we had Practical Magic 2 coming out and you were going to rent out a theater. And I said, please let me be involved. Please let me tag in just a little bit and make an event out of it. Cause I wanted Practical Magic the podcast. Obviously I named my podcast after that movie and wanted people to understand what about that fictional movie is realistic and real and what they can actually have in their life.
So wanting to be involved, we snagged a couple tickets and then created a contest hunt for people to find the tickets, which was kind of crazy. No, I love scavenger hunts. So I thought that was great. Some people got really into it. Some of those tickets were really well hidden.
So we had to, you know, at the very end towards like a week before the event, we were like, does anybody want these tickets? We're going to give them away. We're going to give them to people involved with the podcast and that's what we did. So we had this really amazing event and it turned out great. It did, it did.
Lots of people came, they loved the movie and I loved the ants again. I loved their story. How it ended. Yeah, and not to spoil it too much, but the ants are very much the heroes of the story. They are, they are.
They're not in it as much as Sally and her daughter and Julie and everything, but, and I was actually a little bit surprised that, what is the daughter's name that was the doctor? I'm forgetting the character's name. Antonia. Antonia. I was surprised she wasn't in it as much.
I know, me too. She was kind of, you know, she stayed behind and she did her part, but it was really more about the other daughter and her journey and breaking the curse and things like that. But even with them not being in it as much, you can see the ants being kind of the, these matriarchs. Yes. Like I'm gonna do what it takes to make sure that my descendants and those that come after me have better than I did.
And it was great that they introduced a male magical character, right? Lee Pace was great in it. I was very touched. Crushed in a little bit on him. Oh, for sure.
Yes. Yeah, I was like, wait, how does Sally get another great love interest? She said, this is her third. Her third, yes. And they're all like great, good looking, they are.
Awesome gentlemen. Yes. But I love that they introduced a male magical character because I actually have clients, male clients coming to me that are realizing they're witches and they're opening up to that. So I appreciated that in the movie. Yeah, I'm really happy to see.
And in the episode we did a couple of weeks ago, I had a friend of mine that works with the chondron tree, Sage, he came and was a guest. He's an herb green witch. Oh nice. And we talked a little bit about that. And he said, just understanding and respecting the word witch being what it used to be about women who were, well, a long time ago, empowered and independent and could take care of themselves.
And that that journey really is connected to women and the women's stories of how they were oppressed and claiming their power back in this day and age. And he said, as long as we respect that and understand that, there's no reason why we can't call men witches. Exactly. I have a great little book that's called, Boys Are Witches 2, and it's a kids book. I love that.
It's like an alphabet book and A for apple because the pentagram is in the apple. Yes, that's great. Reading to my boys, not that my boys are all that interested in being witches yet. It's all right, I'm indoctrinating them. We're working on it.
But my oldest is like, mm-mm. I want nothing to do with any of it, but it's only because I am. Right. And I know that. Right.
So I'm just gonna let him have his time with that. But yeah, so it was really cool, yeah, to see his character represent that and have that, again, respect for the history of witches and how that went down. That was one of the things too in the original movie that I loved is showing the ancestral line, showing how there are witch wounds we all carry from what the ancestor, Maria, went through and then Sally kind of taking that on and having to process and work through and heal that because she's like, I don't wanna be ostracized, I don't wanna be othered, I don't wanna be seen as evil or bad in any way and so she's fighting that really hard. Virgilian embraced it. Yeah.
From a very young age. She loved being a witch. Yeah, I love what they say. And her powers, yeah. We know what your powers are.
She just walks into that room and she's like, hang on to your husband, I know, I love it. I do too, I do too. And I actually, side note, was able to meet Nicole Kidman a few years ago and she's a very lovely person. Oh, heard as much, yeah. Very lovely, yes.
One of those that I would love to meet. Yeah, she was amazing. Whenever I see interviews with her or Sandra Bullock or anybody that does the, when they start talking about like, oh, we're being respectful of real witches and things, I'm like, me! I'll talk to you. Yes.
Okay, so right after Practically Magick 2 movie event, you got to go. So jealous. To Salem, Massachusetts, my second visit. Yes, okay, so what was different? Did you see new things or did you kinda just do the like?
Just did the same things again. I love the cemetery with the monuments for each of the women and men that lost their lives. I love the museum they have there, honoring all of them. And they actually tell the story of how the hysteria started there in Salem. Yeah.
And what happened. And when my husband, the first time we went and he went with me to see this little program, he said, I did not know that they were hung. I thought all witches were burned. Yeah. And I thought the ones in the US were not burned.
They were hung. And there was a gentleman that was crushed by rocks. Right, yeah, I remember that story. Yes, but it is a truly magical city with a dark history, of course. But there's just a feeling in that cemetery that I can't describe.
People walk in and they get quiet and there's a reverence in there. Wow. To honor. Yeah, I mean, they realize they're on sacred ground and the shopping there, I mean, come on. So many magical things there.
I love the revival, like the claiming of like, listen, if this is gonna be known for witches, we are going to invite the witches. Absolutely. The witches are welcome here now. And I love that. That's why I'm so jealous.
I wanna go so bad. So maybe I'll get there. Yeah, both times I've gone, it's been right before, obviously, Halloween, but they are starting to set up. So I would get a glimpse of what it will look like in October. And I also love and give a shout out to the statue of Elizabeth Montgomery, because they filmed an episode of Bewitched there.
Oh yeah. And so there's a crescent moon with her sitting on it, a statue. I've seen pictures and video of that. Yes, a lot of people get their pictures there, yeah. Which, by the way, I think we discussed this a little bit in, I did a special podcast series with Blane where we talk about movies, and we did a witch movie project.
We talked about practical magic, and the craft, and Teen Witch, which is the only witch I've met. I met Robin Lively at FanX. so we were talking about, I think in one of the episodes we talked about Bewitched, the show, and I said, you know, as a kid, that show bothered me. I wanted, I mean, I loved it. I watched it all the time.
Nick at Night, or whatever, you know, that we had. But I just would get so mad that Darren wouldn't let her just be a witch. I'm like, what is your problem, man? You are the luckiest person on the planet. You got married to a witch.
Let her help you out. Why can't she do her spells? Why can't she do her magic? And it would drive me insane. So to think back at my little nine-year-old self watching it.
Let her be who she is. Yeah, girl, you have a point. So it would drive me crazy that she was just tampered down constantly. And I'm like, nowadays, feminine revival, feminist revival, we can just be, we can rewrite the script, and we can have her be like, look, this is me, this is who I am. You're not gonna, you're gonna accept it, or you're not moving along.
Right, and then fun fact, Nicole Kidman played that character in the movie, Be Witch. Oh, I totally forgot that too, yeah. She was, yeah. Yeah, come into your own, right? Samantha, yes.
Well, I have to show everybody, you brought me back a little gift. I did bring you back a gift. Not just a gift, but it's in the bag from Salem. My favorite place, though. They have some of the most authentic items in there.
And unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of my other favorite shop there, where I bought a large cauldron, I bought my large scrying mirror. So. I need a cauldron. I don't have a big cauldron yet, but this. Oh, I love like.
This is gonna be my new watch for me. Oh, look how cute that is on you. Watch for me walking around daybreak, friends, all year long, because this is gonna be my new favorite hat. Well, and that is one of my favorite things about you, is that you do walk around in your hats. And I remember about a year ago, we met up for coffee, and you wore a hat to the coffee shop.
And I'm like, I love Courtney. She always just wears her hats out in public, and she's like, here I am. This is who I am, right? We're claiming it. Yes.
And that's my favorite thing about the whole, that's kind of what I wanted to focus on at the Practical Magic 2 movie event, is I really wanted to give that a place. I wanted that to give. Because you said it yourself, you said with this event, there's gonna be a lot of people that are there that are just coming out of the like, I know I am a witch, but I don't know if I'm ready to claim it. And what I wanted to say, I think, hopefully I said, kind of blacked out while we were giving our little thing at the beginning. I know, me too.
I don't know what I said, but I hope I said, that you and I both feel it's very important to put an example of, it's okay to be who you are in public, to say it. I've had a lot of people try to give me advice and say like, maybe use energy worker when you talk about what you are. And I said, yeah, I could. A lot of people understand energy work. They understand that now and they accept it more.
But I have no issue whatsoever with using the word witch. It is the perfect title, I think, to describe all the things. Yes, absolutely. Because I can sit here and list all the things I am. Or I could be like, I'm a witch.
And do all these things. That's right. And it's a much easier way to say it. It is. So I hope people are, you know.
They are coming out of the broom closet, right? Yes. And they feel safe in telling me and asking me about it. And what I love too is, I have clients that even come to me and say, I know I'm a fairy. I've had two recently come to me and say, my soul is a dragon.
So they're waking up in many different ways to their magical sides. And connecting with archetypes and deities. Things of the other world. Things that we, in folklore and in ancient texts, we've talked about, our ancestors talked about, like, we talk about going to the bank. I mean, just, I walked through the woods and I ended up in another realm.
And then I met a fairy. And I met, you know, some creature of the fey. And this is just like a reality that we're okay with. And we're creating communities where if we say, I talked to the trees, I had a conversation with the trees. People are like, that does not seem strange to me at all.
I talk to the trees too. When I was a child, they were called the hippies and the tree huggers. And I was taught as a child, they were weirdos and outcasts. And I'm like, well, that's me. I've been accused of some things.
Yes, yes. Kindly, I think people are mostly kind about it. But I had somebody, their brother-in-law met me and then she said to me about what he said. She's like, he said, that's the crunchiest woman I've ever had. And I was like, wow, I know a lot of crunchier people than me, but I'm gonna take that as a compliment.
I'm like, I still buy deodorant at the store. Right, right, exactly. I'm not that, exactly. I don't make my deodorant at a bar, which I do know people that do that. So I'm just saying I'm not that crunchy.
Okay, to get to our subject today, I invited you here because you are very well-versed in past life. And that's what kind of, oh, I forgot to introduce her at the beginning as my mentor and my teacher, which is how our friendship started. And I still, that's how I refer to you. I'm like my Reiki master, my mentor, the person I learned from. Because when I started out, I was always spiritual and I was always interested in learning as much as I could.
But I remember back at those times, I was kind of just signing up for a little of everything. And I'm just like, I just wanna learn everything I can. And I was coming into a place where I could finally start trusting my intuition a little bit because I was very like, I think I feel, and I don't know, and what is that? I don't know. And then I started to realize, somewhere along the way I was like, oh my gosh, I had imaginary friends growing up.
I have, what if all of this that I just went, pooh pooh, push push, about was all real. What if? And even if somebody came to me and said, but it's not, I would go, okay, but what if? But what if? And you're realizing that what if is, it was.
Yeah, yeah, more and more. I mean, and then getting into tarot card reading or reading cards, you start to just go, look, I'm gonna say this. And it does start out that way. I mean, when I first started, I was like, I'm gonna say this, but I don't know what it means, or I don't know if it means anything to you, the person hitting cards red. And it started to become like, no, yes, oh wow.
Oh, that's totally, oh, and they start telling me, validating over and over and over again, and then I start to go, I'm not going to question it anymore. Well, and the reason you did question it, as so many people do when they first are starting on these journeys, is we have that imposter syndrome. We're like, well, who am I to do this? Yeah, yeah, I definitely have that still. I mean, I still fight with that, but I still, I started to go, I'm gonna say it.
I'm gonna say the thing. And even when, and it does happen, where I'll say a thing in a session with a client or even a card reading, I'll say, I feel that I need to say this to you, or I feel that this is coming through, and I'll say the thing. I've had a couple of times where they're like, no, I don't know what that means, and I'm like, okay, well, I'm gonna leave it there. I'm just gonna let you take it, and what to do with it, and I will just say, 90% of the time, they come back later. They do, and say.
Later they go, oh my gosh, I just realized you were totally right. I totally forgot about this thing. One was, I said, I saw you as a child with a dog. Did you have a little brown puppy? And they were like, no.
I never had a brown puppy, and I'm like, oh, how strange then that I would see that. Well, just think about it. Let me know, and we moved on, and she contacted me maybe a day or two later. I can't remember, but she texted me, and she goes, I just remembered we did have a dog who wasn't brown, but had puppies, and the puppies were brown, and we only had them for a few weeks because they went on homes and stuff. She goes, I completely forgot about it.
That's validating though, isn't it? You're like, yeah, yeah. I've had experiences like that for sure, yes. So back to when we were training, and I remember coming to train with you. We were doing our Reiki training, and that was something that kept coming up, was I would see people in their childhoods.
I would see people as their younger self, and I would say, I see you in your classroom when you were a little boy, or whatever it was, and you said to me, I think that's your gift. I think that's something that you should lean into more and more, and I have, but you gave me some really great readings, or some advice, or I don't know how you put it, but that I was, I had past lives where I was something of a healer, or I was something of a witch of some kind. I mean, maybe not using that term, but in some ways, sometimes I was outcast. I was, which, as soon as you say it, I'm like, of course, of course, that makes so much sense. Living a little bit on the outskirts of the society, but then people did come to me for healing, or for what they needed, and I had what they needed from me, and so I thought, if that's what I was, I wanna be that again.
I want to do that for the rest of my life. I want to, even if I don't have hordes of followers, and hordes of people, all my many fans on the podcast, all you hundreds and thousands. It's gonna grow, and you're gonna get a lot more. I'm sure. You are.
But even if I didn't, I'm okay with that, because I'm doing what I was meant to do, and what I feel called to do, so it's really cool to see how past life can help kind of direct our purpose, or our, I don't know, just pull us along like a rope. It feels like it goes, okay, now go. Now go do. And you even told me, I don't know if you remember this, but I've said it on the podcast before, that I was in the last, one of my lives, I was in the last of the women to be hung in Salem, and that if I saw my name, I would know it. And I did leave that session feeling a little like, okay.
Like, all right. What is she talking about? Yeah, okay. Sure, Laurie Ann. I'm sure there's so many witches and mystics out there who are like, I was in Salem, and they wanna claim that.
So I was a little like, I'm not gonna get my ego all wrapped up in that. But I thought, why not? I'll look and see. I'll just see what the names are. I'll see who was one of the last of the women to be arrested, to be on trial.
And as I looked through the list, sure enough, Alice Parker stood out to me, and I just went, okay, maybe that was me. Maybe I'm connected to Alice Parker in some way. Let me go look at her story. Let me go see what her story was about. And when I read her story, I was more and more convinced that that was me.
Because I thought she had a husband drinking in the pub, who was a sailor, he was gone a lot. And one of the things that testified against her was she had walked into that pub and publicly yelled at her husband and said, get out of here and get back home. And then yelled at everybody in the pub and like, stop giving him drinks and you send him home next time you see him. And she yelled at her landlord because he wouldn't help her with the landscaping or something in the home that she was renting out from. But her husband was gone a lot, so she couldn't get it all done herself.
So she yelled at him for that. And I thought, that resonates. I think she might be me. I think this might be me. So I have to just give me credit for that because that felt, you know.
And again, most of those women, I'm gonna say all those women in Salem, which is it wasn't that they were practicing what they called witchcraft or what we would call witchcraft typically or generically. But that they were just that, women who were independent, women who were speaking their mind in public and standing up for themselves. And so again, proud to call myself a witch if that's what that means. And I will take the mantle from them who were unfairly called witches and hung for it and say, all right, if I get to be a witch just by being a woman who makes a living doing what I love to do, then that's what I am. I'm a witch.
So back to past life regression. Sorry to go off on that tangent, everybody. I love it. I love it. Tell me a little bit about past lives and how you got into that.
Into it? Yeah. So I had a friend who lived in Oakley, Utah and I used to go to her house every Friday and we'd do Reiki on each other. And she told me that her boss in the accounting firm had just done Dolores Cannon's class on past life regression. In fact, she was in the last class of Dolores right before Dolores died.
Wow, okay. So she was in the very last class. And that intrigued me and I've had dreams throughout my life that felt so real but it was like another life. So I decided to book a session with her and she actually came to my home to do it. And I've always throughout my life been drawn to Italy and to the Southern States here.
And guess what life's came through when she hypnotized me. The first one was in Italy and the second one I was a Southern belle but not a traditional one. I had a loud voice. I spoke up. I was against slavery.
I was very out of my element in that time period. And it all made sense to me. And what really got me was the lifetime in Italy. As I went back and kept listening to the recording and meditate, I had a name come forward, Angela Luprano Stingarone. Wow.
I'm like, how can you make up that name, right? I would never. I'm pretty imaginative. But no, never. My sister does the family history and she had an ancestry.com account.
So I asked her if I could log in and I found that name in the time period and no relation to me in this life. And her story that was on ancestry matched my past life that came through. I knew my husband's name was Giovanni. I was pregnant with a son when he was murdered in a duel with his brother over the land. That all came out in the past life.
And when I looked at the timeline in the late 1400s, this is when it happened, her husband had died, it showed. And a few months later, she gave birth to a son. And so in my past life regression, it was this son that allowed me to keep the land because it couldn't be passed to a woman. Oh, right. Yes.
And so- So if you hadn't given birth to a son- Son, I would not have been able to keep the land. And so what was interesting was after a past life regression, they ask your higher self, why did that life come through? For me, it was to show my strength and my grit, my integrity. But it also told me I had unfinished business with that husband in that lifetime. I truly believe that the husband in that lifetime is my husband now, is Bill.
Wow, okay. And so we are completing a life together now that we were not able to complete in that lifetime. Yeah, and I mean, I've heard and read, I wish I would have thought ahead of time to find the book. I'll have to maybe put it in the show notes, but I did read a book about past lives a couple years ago that made me, I think it was written by a hypnotist who was, he was like a psychotherapist who did hypnotherapy. And he was getting all of these readings from a particular woman.
He kind of wrote this book as a case study. Not necessarily did he believe in it, but he wanted to record it, make sure he recorded it exactly as it happened. And reading this book, I remember reading it thinking, oh, I'm a believer. Yes. Now that I've read this, I mean, he wasn't trying to convince me, but he did in reading the way that he documented this case because she talked about things that had, yeah, they had researched and found them to be true.
And I remember thinking that a lot of the past life, people who have written about past lives and believe in that do believe we come back in family groups. We do. Has that been your experience? Yes, yes. Rather, some people believe it's because of karmic cycles we have with them, or we just agree to travel and help each other grow and learn and complete things we were unable to complete in previous lives.
And so I love that so much. And so that session I had made me a believer. I remember even laughing when we were talking about my Southern Belle life, because it started out with me sitting on my porch drinking lemonade. I have such a dislike of lemonade in this lifetime. I'm like, there's no way that I can make this up.
I would never say I'm drinking lemonade. Yeah. And it's just the little details. And in the lifetime in Italy, I use words like, I'm with child rather than saying I'm pregnant. I said veranda rather than porch.
Oh yeah. So we even spoke differently. And so I still have those recordings and every once in a while I go back and listen to them. But that put me on the path to train and do past life readings. And I've had some great experiences with some clients and some very heartbreaking ones too.
Yeah, I can imagine. Yeah. So when you do a session specifically for that, is it hypnotized? Yes. How can I describe this?
You are still consciously awake and aware, but you're not in control. Like me as Lorraine in this lifetime was not in control of what my higher self was saying about those past lives. I was like a passenger in my body listening to the stories. Okay. And that's how a lot of my clients feel too.
They're like, we were in there because it's a light hypnosis, but it's like we were watching and listening to these stories unfold of what our souls lived previously. Oh wow, okay. So there is some hypnotizing going on and there's a little guided meditation. You take them on to get them. And the soul decides which lifetime to go back to because there usually is a lesson to learn.
In a lifetime you visit. And I'm thinking about the emotional processing sessions that I do with clients where we're typically going back in their lifetime to inner child work and sometimes to the womb or wherever. And it's similar, whatever age comes up. And sometimes I will just use a guided meditation or I'll use muscle testing to get them to that age, but I'll say this is the age that's coming forward today for you to work with. So I imagine it's kind of similar.
Not quite hypnotized. I don't think that they're in kind of a hypnotic state when they're doing that emotional processing, but I mean having done it a lot myself, it does kind of feel like you go somewhere else. Absolutely. For that hour. And when you come back you do feel kind of like, wait, I'm still in this room?
I know, right? Like I've been here this whole time. I'm like, oh, I'm back. So I imagine it kind of a similar way to do it. Well, and speaking of that healing, because you take them back to an age where they need to heal something or understand, right?
So in past life regressions, often it will explain to people why they have phobias in this lifetime. Yeah. A phobia of drowning, of high places, of starving. That one's come up quite often. Wow.
Of people who starved in past lives. And so they hoard food now and they're like, that makes sense. But phobias come up, it makes sense about their personalities now. And I think they come through because they're like, you need to heal that and release that energy you're still carrying lifetime to lifetime. Yeah.
And have you seen clients that once they've kind of become aware of where that phobia came from, they have less of it when they have a session? Yes, absolutely. It's really powerful. I mean, can you imagine? To be able to be like, I'm not afraid of being stabbed anymore.
Exactly. Because my past life. And sometimes too, there's so much going on. I mean, this is what my mind is thinking about is, I've done a lot of ancestral work with clients, inner child work. So this is within your family line, what your DNA is bringing to the table as far as like what emotional healing work needs to happen.
Yes. Because it could be an ancestor who drowned or it could be something that happened, some trauma that happened to them and then it passes on. And so you're working on that, but then you also have your soul's ancestral experiences, I guess, which is not necessarily the physical biology of your ancestral line, but you are the soul's experiences from past lives that you have. So it kind of makes me feel like, oh, we don't stand a chance. Is what's coming to my mind is like, if you're not doing some type of healing work in your life, can I recommend that you find something?
Because if we have all that working in us or like, it's so funny, because I think of, as we're talking about past lives, I think of the scene in Friends when Phoebe talks about her past life. And Joey goes, oh, it's so cool. I wish I could remember some of my past lives. And she goes, oh, you're brand new. I'm like, wow, she's so wise.
Could it be souls that are new that haven't had past lives? Absolutely. I can always tell a newer soul compared to an older soul. Oh, really? Because an older soul has mastered the eye roll.
As they are just like, I'm here again, and these people don't get it. And they have no patience with newer souls. It's so true, it's so true. And I love the videos I see of these brand new babies, like newborns that are already rolling their eyes. Oh my gosh, yeah.
I am here again, I cannot believe this. We have a picture of my son, one of my twins, and he's like, I mean, I don't remember how old he was, but he looks like a brand new newborn in the picture. And he has his fingers like this, and he's like closing his eyes, he's like, ugh. And he just looks like, ugh, I can't even with this. And I'm like, oh no, he's already over it.
He's a couple days old and he's over it. Well, I had a client say to me, so in theory, I have several graves around the world. I wonder if I could find them. That would be such a cool journey to go on. Wouldn't that be?
If you can remember your name and where you lived, then go searching, yes. Oh my gosh, there should be a show about that. I bet there is, but we gotta find it. We haven't seen it, yeah. Somebody hire us to be on that show.
I would do it. The research, someone looks up the pathways. Well, I found mine on Ancestry. I'd love to go over that part of Italy and see if I can find. That's your next trip.
Get a picture of me next to. Yes. Your name and say, I found me. I found myself. Well, one of the things that in the past life book I remember reading and I'm trying to remember, again, I apologize for not knowing the name of it.
It was so many years ago. I'll have to figure out what book it was. And I wonder if I made some of this up in my head. So I don't know how much of this is in the book or how much of it was my understanding of interpretation of the book. It kind of made me feel like we live all these lives so if the soul was a diamond and the diamond has all these different facets and every lifetime we live, we're kind of polishing one facet so that we can, like the soul can finally ascend to the next level, whatever that is.
So not necessarily a heaven and hell type situation, but that there is this ascended thing we're all working towards, this place we're all going to be or this entity we get to become maybe. And so part of it is getting to have, so even, oh maybe it wasn't that book. I'm trying to remember. Where did I come up with this diamond? It was in a book, I think.
But it was talking about also spirit babies and talking about the soul before it becomes a baby that comes to this life. Kind of talking, it was a medium talking to a couple who'd lost their baby. Either it was a miscarriage or a late term, I'm not sure, but there was something to do with that. And they said, I know that you're grieving the loss of your child and you should grieve however you need to grieve. But from my understanding, the medium's experience, they said they were only meant to have that body for just that.
And that's all they needed. So they're thanking you for that short time that you were their mother and their father and they very much thank you. And that facet of their diamond, whatever it is, was polished and ready for them to move on. And it did bring great comfort to that couple. I mean, I think that I can understand how extensive the grief must be in that situation.
And so some people are like, I don't wanna hear that. I've lost a child, I'm grieving that. And that's absolutely valid. But I thought that was a really interesting way of looking at it. And sometimes the miscarriage or the soul, and this is an experience I've had where I was doing emotional processing of my own for myself and the person facilitating this said to me, did your mom have miscarriages before you?
And I said, I think she did. I was trying to remember. I think she had a miscarriage before me. She said, that was you. That sometimes we're so picky.
We are and the timing and just everything. Yes. Yes. And I've had that experience with someone that I met. I was doing, this was when I was doing my Reiki master class.
There was a woman next to me during the class. And during the meditations, we were doing like the attunements. Something came to me and I saw a baby. I, it didn't look like a baby. When I see it, it's just like an orb.
But it was interesting because it was like an orb and it had all these roots inside of it. Okay. Like a root system. And I was like, there's a baby for someone in this room? I don't know what's going on.
This is what I'm thinking. I'm not gonna. Right. I wasn't confident enough to be like, whose baby keeps bugging me while we're trying to do our meditation. But I just kind of thought, oh, that's interesting.
I wonder whose baby this is. And then we were in separate rooms practicing and I started hearing all this commotion in the other room and I peeked my head in and they were like, oh, the girl who was next to me in the meditation, they were like, oh, she's pregnant. She's just like seven weeks pregnant. Oh wow. So you said they'd be rooting.
She was standing doing her practice but she started to feel weak and faint. And so they were like, so she kind of had to confess. Oh wow. Like she had to be like, I'm sorry. I just found out I'm pregnant.
I just need to sit down. And they were like, oh. Oh, that's so amazing. She hadn't even told anybody yet. And I started asking her questions when we had a break.
I said, can I just ask you some things? And she said, I'm so nervous because I've had miscarriages before. Oh yeah. And I said, does someone in your family play baseball? And she said, oh yeah, my husband, he played baseball in college.
And I said, okay, I'm just gonna say the thing and you just decide if you feel like it's right for you. I said, your miscarriages before were this baby but the roots are, she's rooted. She's ready. She's ready to come and be a part. She goes, something in your life has changed enough for her to feel like you're now ready for me but you weren't before.
I love that. And she said, we just, she said something about her husband just switched jobs that he traveled a lot before and now he's gonna be home more. And I was like, I wish you all the best. And I think it's gonna work out this time. I think she's like, she's here to stay.
So that was, I know that's not really past life stuff but we're talking about translations. I'll share a quick story about that. So when my daughter was getting married, right? Just a couple of months before the wedding, her then fiance found out he's in the National Guard that he was being deployed to the Middle East and they made the decision to get pregnant so in case anything happened to him, there'd be a piece of him left. So my granddaughter was born the following year and when she was about three years old, she got in an argument with her mom and she looked at my daughter and said, I was not supposed to be born yet.
I came too early. And she went in her room and slammed the door. Interesting. And my daughter's like, did I screw up? Did I make her come sooner than her soul wanted to?
Well, maybe so but. So the soul comes in different ways, different times and you have a say in what you want to focus on in that lifetime is what I've learned. Yeah, yeah. I've gotten that feeling as well. And so I think a session would be really helpful in getting some clues as to like, what is...
I'd love to do that with you. What am I starting to come to? And my mom just came to me recently in a vision because my parents have both passed and told me my dad's reincarnated. Oh, right. So he won't be coming to me anymore.
So that was almost interesting to experience a different kind of grief because even though my parents had passed, I still was connected to them and they would come visit me but now my dad's not coming anymore because he's someone else now. Yeah, does that hurt you? So you feel that grief all over again because he's not available to me. And so I know we had wanted to kind of transition from this into Akashic records. Yes.
Because Akashic records are tied to past lives. You can tap in without even doing a past life regression to Akashic records to look up your records and those of others, right? So those who don't know or maybe haven't, because I remember just touching on it but when I first heard about it, I was like, it sounded like I was supposed to already know about these Akashic records. The way people talked about it, I was like, okay, so where do I go for that? What is that about?
And you had actually told me that my grandfather, this picture is up there on the piano, was working in the Akashic records when I first, I think one of the first sessions that I did with you in a Reiki session and it made me feel like, first of all, as soon as you said that, I pictured him in like a hall of records, just like filing cabinets but like infinite and I saw him holding a little vanilla folder. I love that. I saw him like walking up, he would kind of shuffle and just being like, oh, here's a file for you and I thought, ooh, I have an in. Yes. I have a direct line so I'm gonna, and I really haven't explored that very much at all.
I think that I could definitely get into that but just when I want to explore that, calling upon him to say, can you pull a file for me and find it for me and bring it to me and give me what information I need, right? So explain a little bit more about for people. My first time in meditation that I was able to go to the Akashic records, it showed up to me as a building like you would see in ancient Greece with the big columns and marble and it is like this infinite library and it has the record of every soul's experiences, lifetimes, anything you want to know and interestingly enough, my dad met me there but at first I didn't know it was him because he had gone back to what his true self looked like. So in life, my dad very much was suits during the day, farmer jeans and plaid shirts at night, right? He shows up looking like Fabio from a romance novel.
When I realized who it was, we had a great laugh but he said at that time he was working there and he was researching and now that memory just came to me. So thank you that he was researching and planning what he wanted to do in his next lifetime. So he brought me in and gave me a little tour and it was interesting, it just went on forever but I knew exactly where to go to find my files. I just knew. There's some people out there that say you have to get permission to go, that you have to know a secret word to get in, you have to and I have found that's not the case.
It's just through meditation, intention. I always light a candle, I make sure it's dim in the room and I usually play some meditation music to help me relax and then I just set my intention that I wanna go to the Kashuk records because I wanna look at why am I having this difficulty in my life at this point in time and I can pull up my record for this lifetime and it'll explain to me why I chose this lesson and it doesn't give me the answers. Right. It will from past lifetimes will say this is what you did right and what you did wrong in those lifetimes but it's a guide. I've even been able to tap into them for clients when I'm working on them.
So I just think of a big library with, in fact, Bruce Almighty, do you remember that movie? Yes. When there's the filing cabinet, he opens it and it just goes on forever. It's kinda like that. It's just like all that information is there for you to tap into.
Yeah, yeah. I think I've felt that and I think that I've, cause when I did some of the mediumship training, I don't claim to be a medium but I, they talked about a spirit guide who's kind of like a gatekeeper. That when you start, you can talk to your gatekeeper and say gatekeeper, I'm allowing whatever serves my and my client's highest good to come through. And I think that without realizing it, I have done that before sessions with a client just to say I need whatever record is gonna help them. And so let whatever come through that needs to come through.
And so I think that those are times when things have come through that I don't even necessarily know where they came from. Right. But you have tapped into the Akashic record in some way to be able to bring that force for them. And so when you were speaking of books, I don't know if you've read The Witches of Scotland by Steven Atchison, it's a series of books, but it goes along with Akashic records. It goes along with a little bit what you talked about earlier, the different facets.
And in these books, they progress and go to different realms, different levels to finally ascend to where everyone wants to be in the end. They're fascinating books. It's about persecution of witches. It's all of these things. But he also explains about the Akashic records in there.
Yeah, that would be really good to deep dive into that a little bit more. Get some more experience and really utilize it more than I have. Yeah, so Akashic records and past life regressions go hand in hand because when you are hypnotized and going back to a past life, oftentimes you're experiencing it, but I think you're also tapping into those Akashic records to remember. Yeah, I think you would have to, right? Because it has to pull up that and bring you to it.
It's so funny. I've been thinking about the movie Defending Your Life with Meryl Streep. Oh, uh-huh, yes. It's kind of an oldie, but a goodie. But where they are sitting in a room kind of almost on trial for their life and they are going on to other lives and they get to see what other lives that they've lived.
But it has a projector screen and they're bringing up things from their life and that's kind of what I imagine. If you're pulling it up and then it's like, this is you getting to experience that. Yes, and what I have learned through my mediumship and loved ones coming through in breakie sessions for my clients is they say you do review your own life. It's not a judgment, it's a review. You are made to feel how you made everyone feel.
You relive everything and kind of critique it. And then from there it helps you understand what you still need to work on, what you may want to plan for your next lifetime. So I think and then that kind of goes into your file after you've reviewed. Okay. So that's what I've been shown.
And that makes more sense to me than, I don't necessarily think of the leveling up, the facets of the diamond and leveling up. I think that's our understanding of it because we don't have any other context. There are levels. Yes, yes. It's a video game and you level up.
Exactly. But I don't see or feel it as hierarchal. One is better than the other. Just like ascending means like going up to heaven. I see it more as like the way vibrational frequencies vibrate higher and higher and higher, which we know resonates with love and those lighter, more authentic feelings rather than low.
And that's what he alludes to in those witch books I just spoke of. It's like when your energy and your understanding grows, you level up to another realm, to another way to experience and another way to be. And so it's about soul growth. It's about learning and understanding. Well, I will say as we start to wrap it up today, because I know this is gonna be a long episode, but I will say that the idea of the theology of past lives or that we live many lifetimes, that our soul needs that, to me resonates more truthful anyway compared to the religious context we both were raised in.
Yes, yes, you get one life. One life. I mean, because really when I thought about that originally, I thought that doesn't make sense. No. And we have conversations in our family about this because I have family members who struggle or who have struggled or who've lived a really short life or not a really short life.
Some of them a really long life, but just absolutely seem completely lost as to how to live life authentically or well or, I mean, just struggling with addiction, very narcissistic harm to people, basically alienating everyone they've ever known and by their own actions, right? Right. And we've talked about that and we're like, how is it fair that this is the only life they get? Exactly. If they get to live this life like that with mental health disorders and just ultimate struggle and then they just think that that's their life, right?
Yeah, and you feel for them and you've, family members have done everything they possibly can to help them, but it's remained clear that at this point, there's very little hope that they will all of a sudden at 56 years old, turn it around and be like, I'm gonna do good for the rest of my life. Like probably not, probably they will never kick the addictions and they will never be not narcissistic and selfish and so you think this must be, in my view, one of the facets of their diamond that they are just working on. Yes, yes. Like they just need to experience being this person this time so that whatever can happen in the next life. Because think of how many experiences there are to have and you cannot have all of them in one lifetime.
Right. You just, it's impossible in one lifetime. So something to consider if you're an unbeliever. Exactly. Maybe a little compassion for the souls.
Yes. Would be worth considering. So okay, so I think maybe what I need to do is do a whole nother episode where we just, I just record my session where we do past life for me. I would love that. And I'll just do a whole demo.
Yeah. Because today was just a great discussion, Dave. We just had a lot of great discussion about this. We did, thank you. But I really appreciate you coming today and taking the time.
Of course, of course. And also just everything that you're doing for the world. Thank you. I'm trying to do my part. Ryan.
Us Pisces are exhausted. I was just gonna say that I am so tired and when I even mentioned to some of my regular clients that there will come a day I will retire. They're like, what? You can't retire. But you deserve to because this is a lot of work.
And also an activist too for speaking up against the injustices that we see happening in our world. Yes, yes. I'm very passionate about that. I don't know about you, but I keep a hopeful thought in my mind that a lot of the regression that we see happening in our economy and society and everything and patriarchy and capitalism and all the things, I'm like, maybe this is just that like bowstring back so we can shoot forward. I'd like to think that we're just seeing this last stitch effort to hold on to all these values that no longer serve us as a society so that it can just slingshot us into this divine feminine awakening that we're...
I actually had a vision of that very thing and it's happening. You heard it here first, folks. It is happening. Good, that makes me feel very hopeful, but we're gonna keep fighting. I had that vision in 2021.
Okay. That showed me all of this as it's happening and what the world will be like when it's done and it's gonna be amazing. Yeah, those who kind of study the astrology and those who understand energy, we all kind of knew this was happening and so we're not terribly surprised, but it's a hard time to live through. It is.
