Hammerin’ Hank Show: Radio Stunts, Trivia & Sports

Hammerin' Hank Show: Radio Stunts, Trivia & Sports

Ryan Hoppe & Hammerin' Hank · October 19, 2026

In This Episode

Hammerin' Hank and Ryan Hoppe run a loose, high-energy episode that bounces between radio war stories, pop music trivia, and Bay Area sports. Hank looks back on a 1997 Wild 94.9 Blue Bomb concert and his stint on the Wild 94.9 Ultimate Survivor game in 2000, which left him freezing in the on-air studio after he lost the challenge. The two also argue over the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame plaques, with Hank, Elvis, and Hollywood honored, and the conversation keeps circling back to The Doghouse. Trivia runs through early 2000s and late '80s hits, with Ashley Simpson's "Pieces of Me" and Amy Grant's "Baby Baby" among the questions, and a stretch of Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays talk gets it heated. Hank also shares a plan to lose weight in the new year and a church event in Castro Valley, and he steps into a Buddy of the Week shout-out and a Prick of the Week callout. The episode is a snapshot of radio nostalgia, music trivia, and sports banter, with the kind of unfiltered local energy that defines the Hammerin' Hank Show.

What up, Henry and Hank? How the hell are you? How the fuck are you, buddy? I'm very fucking good. Now, here's the deal.

I did not really feel like recording today, but I also did not want to let you down. So we have a new intro that goes crazy in the club, and we're going to premiere it right now. This is going to be an intro, Hank, that you will always remember. Now, you're not going to be able to hear it because you're on Zoom, but you'll hear it afterwards, okay? Cool, buddy.

Alright, without further ado, here is the new intro right now. What up, Henry and Hank? How the fuck are you doing, buddy? I'm very fucking good. Man, you're sweating a storm today.

You're a sailor. What up? Cool, buddy. How are you? Extremely good.

What's your radio member of the week? It was the 1997 At the Wild 94.9 Blue Bomb concert. I was dancing with a lot of lovely females. Oh yeah, all the Latinas, right? Yep.

How was that? Are they sitting on your lap? It was very, very good. I was dancing in the aisles. Nice.

Backstage also. That's some good memories, Hank. Very good memories. Any other memories for the week? Yes.

Ta-da. You know, I got to participate in the Wild 94.9 Ultimate Survivor game in the year 2000. I was riding the prom survivor. How was it? It was okay.

What happened? Why was it just okay? I was freezing to death in the on-air studio because I lost this challenge. That sucks. Did Elvis ever take part in any challenges?

Yes, he won the entire thing. That's good. Any other memories, Hanky? That's it. All right.

What did you want to say about the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame? It's a very, very good organization. Mm-hmm. And that to me, and also the entire The Doghouse. The Doghouse!

What? The Doghouse! What? Awesome. I don't think an apology is necessarily the right word, but I would say, because only the show got a plaque, correct?

Now like Elvis and Hollywood and all them, right? The entire show got a plaque. But were there just Elvis, J.D., and Hollywood? How many plaques were there? Three.

I wasn't expecting one anyway. Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait. So that kind of does go back to my point. Because the guy commented about how they only gave him. So Elvis and Hollywood did get one?

Yes. So I stick by what I said then. Never mind. I was going to, I just kind of stick by what I said last week. Mm-hmm.

Cool. So whatever. I'll keep the video up. I felt bad thinking there was only one plaque, but if they actually gave out more than one plaque, then I don't feel bad about what I said. At all.

Three people got plaques. All right. So then my point was proven. Because the guy, Sharpie, whatever his name is, commented on it. No, I am glad I did it.

Hank, you ready for the jokes? Ten-four. Let me hit the music. Right now. Okay.

What's up, Hank? I told my doctor, I feel like a fucking deck of cards. You know what he said? He said, I'll deal with you later. Ah, it is.

My life told me to be, stop behaving like a flamingo. Ah, it is. I had to put my fucking foot down. Ah, it is. I know 25 letters of the alphabet.

Yeah. I don't know why. I bought a ceiling fan. Complete fucking waste of money. This is serious.

Go ceiling! Hmm. My fucking boss told me to have a good day. So I went home. That's why, if they have books about paranoia.

Yeah. If you whisper, they're right behind you. Ah, it is. I used to hate facial hair. Then it grew on me.

Oh, yeah. I ordered a fucking chicken egg on mine. I'll let you know. I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. It's fucking impossible to put down.

And my fucking doctor told me I need more exercise. So now I walk around looking for the remote. Nice. That's it for the jokes. Alright, I got the radio jokes.

Hank, you want to hear them? Yes, buddy. Why did the radio host bring a ladder? Why, buddy? To reach the high notes.

My boss said I have a face for radio. Apparently, I also have a voice for the newspaper. Why did the DJ go broke? He kept giving everyone a shout out instead of an invoice. I asked for a raise from the radio station.

They turned my chair up. Why don't radio hosts play hide and seek? They keep announcing their locations on site. My radio career has really taken off. They just moved my shift to a time when everyone's sleeping.

What's a radio host's favorite exercise? Run in their mouth. Oh, no. Run in their mouth. I got to relax.

Why did the microphone dump the DJ? I don't know. Too much feedback. Radio management said they want fresh talent. Then they plan a rerun.

How many radio executives does it take to change a light bulb? How many? None. They'll make the intern do it. All righty.

One second here, Hank. What do you think I'm playing? Playing church music. How the hell is church going? Church is doing real good.

We're continuing to study the book of First John. How's First John going? Pretty good. What are you doing with First John? Because people, I don't know if you're a Christian or not a Christian.

It's okay, but go on. And also, we talked about the Bible being the most serious book in the world. Oh, yeah. And also, people going either to heaven or hell if they die. I'm going to heaven.

I'm going to purgatory. Anything else from church? We're having a trunk or tree event coming up on October 30th at the CVE Church in Castro Valley. That's good. Are you excited, man?

I probably won't go. Why are you not going to go? My sister's afraid that... Afraid of what? She's afraid of driving in the dark.

That's fair. Hank, have I heard the music? Are you ready for pop culture trivia? That's correct, buddy. What's that?

Okay. I'm going to hear the music. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. What do you got, Hank? Who had the top ten hit record, Pieces of Me, in the early 2000s?

Ashley Simpson. That's correct. Hell yeah! She also can sing or dance. I also masturbate to her from time to time.

That's good to know. Who had the top ten hit record, Baby Baby, back in 1989? Uh... Celine Dion. Nope, Amy Grant.

That's good. Next. Who had the top ten hit record, Trouble, way back in 1982? Uh...I know Taylor Swift had one. She's never the problem.

I'm going to go Madonna. Nope, Lindsay Buckingham. I've heard of her. I know about Buckingham's house. Was former member of the group Fleetwood Mac.

Oh, okay. I've heard of that. Sweet Trans, I'm mad at this. Okay, go on. That's it for the pop music trivia questions for this week.

Alright, you can't hear it. But I have... some baseball kind of music on your ear the next day on How977. What do you think about the real series so far, the Milwaukee Brewers? I hope they play either Tampa...I hope they play Tampa Bay.

Yeah, I have a love-hate with Tim, but they don't like me, because I said there was never a day on Tampa Pirates 2022, and that was top secret info. But they played the Tampa Bay Rays, and the Tampa Bay Rays humiliate the Bradley Brewers. Hell yeah, I don't like Wisconsin, a bunch of white trash losers. Anything else, Greg? Do you like the Indians, the Guardians, I mean?

Sometimes. Me, Tim. The name of the state in progressive? Hell yeah. The name of the state in progressive insurance?

I assumed that when I thought of it. I think State Farm Arena is named after State Farm. Yep, and I like a good neighbor, State Farm Restair. Yeah, you're the best. We have a listener comment here.

Hank, I love your appearances on The Woody Show. Keep up the good work. Thank you, buddy. What is your KCRH update? We had to shut down the audio streaming because Chibokos doesn't want to pay for it right now.

So you can only listen locally? You can only listen to it locally right now at 89.9 FM in Hayward. Oh man, radio is so cheap and it wonders why it's dying. Okay. I said it, not you.

Are you ready for Buddy of the Week? Yes. One second, let me turn it up right now. Yo. Tune into the show.

It's Hammerin' Hank. All 50 genius always keeping their game. Hey, we're Yokes on the mic. Pop, rhyme, shotgun. Roll call for the buddies.

We just having some fun. Buddy of the Week, who gonna get the crown? Hank bringing smiles. Shut the haters down. On the airwaves, we breaking the code.

Street-wise vibes on this radio. Ah, who's your buddy, Hank? Everyone who's trying to give me a plaque for my induction to Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame. Yeah, I was first thinking that only the show got it, but hearing that others got it, I'm back to my stance that they need to give you a plaque. Bye.

This is my buddy, Dweek. We're gonna let that opinion die, cause I was just sitting there. Any other buddies? Yes. Everyone in the C.E.V.

Perstrition Cash Valley. Nice. Ah, you got any others? That's it. Ah, you got a prick?

Yep, he diddy. Ah, I was gonna put him in the... Why is Pete Ditty in the Prick of the Week? Because he used his cell phone while he was in prison. Yeah, blowing guys.

He also got massages. He got busted for it, so he was sent to another prison. Nice. I didn't hear about that. Uh, what else is going on, man?

This show's flying by, but what else is going on? Hilly Duff, she had a song called Fly Back in the early 2000s. I remember that. That was a good song in the club, you know. Now she has a current hit called Mature.

She is mature. She's a hot ass milf. Anything else, Hank? Yep, I massaged to Hilly Duff sometimes. I'm sure she would love to hear that.

And also, I wish I was in the audience on the Jenga ball. Ah, yeah, well... I text minutes about it, but I never heard back from him yet. Ah, it's the same way when I text him. Anything else?

Yes. I hope to see the national anthem at either Stockton Kings, Santa Cruz Warriors, or Santa Say Bear, or could a hockey game there this year. Text me later on to team John Hay from... And I will. One second here, Hanky.

You want to leave us a voice mail at 856-494-6773. Or you can hit me up on Instagram at DJHammer and Hank. I am loading up your national anthem. Here it is. All right.

Now... So people can hear the flavor of Hammerin' Hank. You can't hear it, but it's playing. All right. And now...

Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? Good job, Hanky. Thank you, buddy.

Is there anything else on your mind? Well, I want to start losing weight at the beginning of the coming year. We'll have a competition to see who can lose more weight. Does that sound good? I want to lose a lot of weight because I'm fat and I'm lazy, but I'm not proud of it.

I'm glad you're able to admit it. That's the step I want. Okay. Is there anything else? That just about does it.

All right. One second here, Hank. We got to pump up the club a little bit. All right, Hank. Who do you want to shout out?

I'd say what's up to all my buddies out there. About 4,000 of them. I'll talk to you real soon, buddies. Peace in your hood. Bye, Hank.

Love you. I love you, too. Bye, buddy. Peace in your hood. Bye.

Attention Bay Area Radio Hall fam. I thought there was only one plaque. No, no, no, no, no. Give Hank his plaque. Let me turn it up.
