Hammerin’ Hank Radio Roulette: Pop Trivia Round

Hammerin' Hank Radio Roulette: Pop Trivia Round

Ryan Hoppe & Hammerin' Hank · October 16, 2026

In This Episode

Hammerin' Hank and Ryan Hoppe open this episode with a Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame recap: Hank's visit to the induction, a ride in Tom's Lamborghini, reconnecting with former co-workers, and his frustration that only the main Doghouse members received plaques. From there the show runs its usual rotation of radio jokes, a church update that includes an invitation to a senior Bible study, a pop trivia round covering Madonna, Taylor Dane, Michelle Branch and Taylor Swift, and a playful birthday plan to see the Orlando Magic that turns into a debate over whether a Greyhound trip from San Jose to Tampa is realistic. Buddy of the Week goes to the Hall of Fame crew and former colleagues, and the Prick of the Week segment takes aim at a former American Idol contestant. Hank closes with his signature message to never give up on your goals and his sign-off, "Peace in your hood."

Ryan Hoppe and Hammerin' Hank deliver fast, unscripted radio nostalgia, pop culture trivia and sports talk in a format built for listeners who miss live FM morning energy. This is the Hammerin' Hank Show, produced by Ride The Wave Media.

What if you traded this for a little more of this? Now you can! Volaris has launched a new non-stop route from Salt Lake City International Airport to Guadalajara. Go for the people you've missed. Stay for the late-night tacos, colorful markets, and a city full of life.

Like the sound of that? Start planning your trip at Volaris.com. What up, Hammerin' Hank? How the hell are you? How the fuck are you doing, buddy?

Pretty fucking good. If I hit the opening music, when I point to you, we'll be ready. Sounds good? Sounds extremely good! Alright, let's go.

You're listening to the Hammerin' Hank Show with Henry Ochs and Ryan Hoppe. Oh, yeah. The Hammerin' Hank Show. I like that music. Alright, I know.

The Hammerin' Hank Show. What up, Hank? How you doing, buddy? Doing good. Man, someday when I grow up, I want to be as cool as you, Hanky.

Thank you, buddy. Alright, before we get to the Day Area Radio Hall of Fame and all that, we got plenty of time to do that. What is your radio memory of the week? My radio memory of the week? My radio memory of the week is when I first started at one in nine years ago with J.V.

Nobles. Oh, nice. What's one of your favorite memories from that era? Well, I got to ride in the Red Baron plane back in 2000. Nice.

How fun was that on a skill of 100? That was very good. On a skill of 100? Oh, nice. What's a 12 out of 10?

No, 11. No, but what's a 12 out of 10? Like a blow job in a nightclub? Nope. I'm at the light pole now.

Hanky, you are a Hall of Famer. I am best friends with a radio Hall of Famer. How is it being a part of the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame, the fourth biggest one? My buddy Tom took me down and back riding in the Lamborghini. Wait, you wanted a Lamborghini?

Yeah. Hell yeah. Was it his car or did he rent it? It was his car. Wow.

Have her and Hank ride in dirty. Dude, that's awesome. Extremely awesome, buddy. Did any women look at you? This is people who I used to work with.

There was no ladies on the road. Oh, yay. Look at him and Hank in his Mercedes. This is where he used to work with back in the day. How was it seeing your old co-workers?

Extremely good. Why were you so good about it? Interacting. That's definitely a good thing to be interacting with people. Hi, I'm Rick Hank.

People I haven't seen in almost 20 years. When was the last time you saw Hollywood? About 20 years ago. So that was probably one of the... and then you saw Elvis last time when?

When JV died, right? This is the first time I saw Elvis ever since JV passed away. Yes. And was Natasha there? No, she wasn't.

Okay. Hammerin' Hank, what is the takeaway you want people to take away from you being in Hall of Fame? Never give up. Always stay focused on your goals. And maybe someday you'll be in the radio Hall of Fame like myself.

You're so inspirational. Thank you, buddy. You're welcome. Hammerin' Hank, anything else from that or should we go to jokes? I ate a boneless chicken and some Italian food.

Nice. I like Italian food. Was this with Tom? Yep. And afterwards we get to go to the Jack in the Box to celebrate my victory.

Wow, dude. In Alameda. I'm so jealous that you guys have jack in the box. We don't have it in Florida, dude. I wish you did though.

I wish you had a jack in the box in Great Bank, Kansas. Yeah, good old Great Bank, Kansas. Anything else? Are we good on the Hall of Fame? I didn't get it.

Only the main members of the Dark House got a plaque. That is utter bullshit, Hammerin' Hank. To the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame. I was expecting a plaque anyway. You deserve one for all the stuff you dealt with on the show with Elvis.

Okay, I'm going to call him out. But Hammerin' Hank, that is B. Thank you, buddy. That is B. That is a weird way to end this segment because that is why I appreciate KCRH being nice to you.

You deserve a plaque. Yes, I do. I'm going to make you a plaque since you didn't get a plaque, okay? KCRH will make me one too. They're going to make you a plaque?

At least you'll try. I'm going to make you a plaque and an AI phone. Thanks, Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame. Cool, buddy. Alright, you ready for the jokes?

Yes. Let me hit the music. Let's go. What are the jokes? What I hate- What?

Because destroying the computer has worked every time so far. Nice. What I hate is when someone says, you look tired. Why? Because that's apparently the best I can look today.

What I always behave surprised when my credit card arrives. Why? Because I prefer to think of my purchases as rumors. Mm-hmm. Remember the Tamek Social Club rumors?

Uh, no. Gone. What I hate going to the dentist. Why? Because the only place where somebody insults my hygiene and charges me $200.

Next. What I always say I'm just browsing a store. Because I can't afford anything in here. Sounds depressing. What I hate when people ask what my five-year plan is.

Why? Because I'm still trying to figure out why I'm happy for dinner. What I always get nervous at the stuff checkout. Why? Because if she announces my mistakes to the entire grocery store.

Ah, yes. What I hate when someone says, you haven't changed a bit. Why? Because I spent thousands of dollars trying to. Ah, yes.

And finally. Yeah? What I always say it could be worse. Why? Because apparently I enjoy challenging the universe.

Hi Hank. Do you want to hear the radio jokes? Yes. Why did the radio host bring a ladder to work? I don't know buddy.

He brought a ladder to work because the management said the ratings needed to climb. Why did the DJ bring a date to the studio? I don't know buddy. He wanted someone to appreciate his commitment to talking about himself. What's a radio host's favorite exercise?

Oh no. Jumping to conclusions before the caller finishes their point. Why did the producer hide station coffee? I don't know buddy. The morning show already had six people talking at once.

How do you get a radio host to stop talking? Oh no. Tell them the microphone is off. Why did the DJ get dumped? Oh no.

Every apology started with first a word from our sponsors. We're so cooking. After these messages, we'll be right back. Oh we got a few more though. Why did the DJ get dumped?

Oh wait no no. I already said that. No no no. What did the radio host say during an argument with his wife? He said let's take another call.

Why did the station hire a psychic? I don't know. Someone needed to know when the paycheck is coming. Why did the DJ take headphones to a family reunion? I don't know buddy.

He wanted to pretend everyone was on hold. And what's the difference between a radio host and pizza? I don't know. A pizza can feed a family. And also, Hammerin' Hank deserves a plaque in the radio hall of fame.

That's all I had to do. Hammerin' Hank, if I hit the church, can you recap the church for me? Yes please. How the hell is church going? Extremely good.

Tell me about it. Ernie saying the birth of first John. How's that going? Pretty good. What are you learning?

Jesus and his disciples. And also, all my buddies in heaven. Mmm. Oh yeah, my dad's looking down on me. Literally and figuratively.

Hammerin' Hank, what else is going on in church? I think you ought to attain the senior Bible study this Wednesday. That's good. Go to a Bible study. Just think about it.

Go to a Bible study. Sounds good. Okay. Hammerin' Hank, what else is going on in church? That's just about it.

Alright. If I hit the music, then I'll point. Would you be ready for pop culture trivia? Yeah. Let's go.

Alright, let me play the music. I just... Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Turn on the show with Henry and Ryan. Pop trivia questions, yeah, no lying.

Got my mind dark like a blade that's flying. They asking those questions, got my brain frying. Hammerin' Hank's got the mic up high. Pop hits playing till the end of the sky. Gotta keep it real, can't let it slide.

Answers in my head, can't let them hide. Pop trivia. Alright, hey. What's the trivia? Who had a top ten hit record?

Tell it to my heart. Way back in 1988. Madonna. No, but Taylor Dane. Nah, he's never heard of her.

Next. Who had the top ten country pop hit records? 22 in the mid 2000s. Let me think. Michelle Branch.

No, Taylor Swift. Any other ones? Who had the top ten hit records? Like a Version. I'll show us the number one hit record.

1984. Madonna. That's correct. And that's it for the music trivia. Hi, Hanky.

It's your birthday ride around the corner. When is your birthday? The tenant Orlando Magic basketball game. That is awesome. How are you gonna fly to Orlando?

I'll take Greyhound. A Greyhound across the country? Yep. Like the old circus says, go Greyhound. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

Let's, uh. Alright. Hank. Hank. You do realize I live like 90 minutes from Orlando?

Yep. You can stay at my place. Yep. You wanna do that? Yep.

Uh, have you talked to some of my friends around here? Nope. Uh, let's, uh, let's, uh. Cause tickets are not that pricey, dude. And that'd be a june.

We gotta make this happen. When? When you, have you really been thinking about this? I've really been thinking about playing an NBA game. And you'd be, um.

Alexa, how long is the Greyhound from San Jose to Tampa? A Greyhound from San Jose to Tampa runs about three days and six hours. Yeah, dude. Alexa, stop. That's three days.

We wouldn't have. Plane tickets are so expensive. We'll figure it out. I don't know if you get the, I mean, that's three days, Hank. You'd have to stay at a motel or something.

I don't know. We gotta make this work. I gotta meet you at some point. We'll figure it out. Right.

We'll figure it out. Uh, Hammerin' Hank. Uh, listener comments that Hank, I'm so proud of you for making a hall of fame. You are one of the goats and an inspiration to people with autism. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, buddy. You're welcome. Uh, if I hit the music and I play it when I'm ready. Uh, would you wanna do buddy of the week? Yes.

Alrighty, let's do this. Yo. Tune into the show. It's Hammerin' Hank. Oh, this the genius always keeping it down.

Henry Ochs on the mic. Hot Rod and Shotgun. Roll call for the buddies. We just having some fun. Buddy of the week, you gon' get the crown.

Thanks for bringing Spon-O. Shut the haters down. On the airwaves, we breaking the code. Streetwise, live on it's radio roll. Alright, Hank, who's your buddy of the week?

Everyone, my buddies at the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame. Also, everyone who voted for the Dogcows to join the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame. And also everyone who I used to work with back in the wild days. Uh, any other buddies? That's just about it.

And also my buddy Tom Wolfley and... We're driving me there and back to you. Let's slap your guinea. I think that is being... That is pimpin' dude.

Yeah, I think they gotta get you a plaque dude. That's really bothering me. Ah, Hank, do you have a... If I hit the music, do you have a prick of the week? Yes.

Let me just hit the music real quick. I'm just gonna go crazy in the club. Here we go, we're going to the pop list. Alright Hank, who's your prick of the week? Definitely former American Idol contestant and music minister, he's a friend who was tried and convicted of revering his wife Ashley.

Yeah, he's a piece of shit. Mmm, he's a fucking moron. Cameron, Hank, you think he's gonna burn in hell? Yes he is. Because of what he did.

And a lot of people hate him now. Believe themselves. I never heard of him, had you heard of him? Just because of the news coverage. Yeah, no one really knew him from American Idol, so he even failed on there.

He failed on American Idol also. He was a little bit... What's the word? A loser! He's a fucking loser.

Say it one more time. He's a fucking loser. Alright, Cameron, Hank, what else you got going on? I gotta give a big shout out to everyone. Yeah, I learned.
